RE: Frainfreezes's sketchbook - Yonderly - 01-03-2016 Wow, that's a lot of studies! Keep them coming, but do not forget to apply the knowledge so they don't go to waste! It's great to revisit the basics, especially when you feel lost - it helps me, too. :D And don't worry - you have already improved a lot! Just keep going. : ) It does not matter if you have "only" an hour a day for painting if it is an hour well used. RE: Frainfreezes's sketchbook - frainfreeze - 01-29-2017 I m thinking about developing games as hobby again. Will make few small ones and once the finals are over I might make a concept and full featured game. We'll see. RE: Frainfreezes's sketchbook - frainfreeze - 04-14-2017 Neopathogen
Foreword For a while I have been thinking about building adventure like pixel art game. It would be an interesting project because i would do some pixel art which i haven't done in years, i could learn how to make concept art and how to create game art, also i would learn how to merge my programming and art skills into whole. For the game I decided to strip user input to bare minimum. After pondering how and what for quite a while i came up with idea of using only two buttons to control whole user experience. By letting user use only left and right on keyboard we can create interesting game mechanics, see example: RE: Frainfreezes's sketchbook - UKRAINIANWOLF97 - 04-26-2017 (01-22-2016, 07:43 AM)frainfreeze Wrote: *** Week 2 - 3 *** It is nice ,that you are studying the value . RE: Frainfreezes's sketchbook - neopatogen - 05-07-2017 Awesome work, rendering simple shapes is an extremely helpful excercise. IAnd good that you applied it to a car. Same about Drawabox, found it helpful for myself as well for understanding form. Looking forward to your pieces for fun that you mentioned :) RE: Frainfreezes's sketchbook - frainfreeze - 05-09-2017 Whoa whoa whoa! @Artloader thank you! @neopathogen thanks mate (btw I absolutely love your nick) Honestly, I did not expect such a great feedback from my returning posts. You guys sound so determined and enthusiastic and this thread is now motivating me to finish my finals the best I can so I get down on art asap and thanks you so much for that! RE: Frainfreezes's sketchbook - ThereIsNoJustice - 05-29-2017 Hello FF, Your observation studies seem to be coming along nicely. Look even more closely for lighting factors and changes in value, and try to understand them as lighting factors. They're very subtle sometimes. I think you should work on construction style drawing also. It stood out in your squirrel drawings that this is something you could really benefit from, and you would see a jump in improvement. http://drawabox.com has a lot of good demos, among many other resources. Also bought scott robertson's how to draw. It s just that i don't like drawing, it requires more precision and thinking than painting so I have been avoiding it. I will listen to your advice and get back to basics, thanks! |
