Welcome back. Yeah, we all hafta pay attention to 'burn-out' and taking a break is fine as far as I'm concerned. I've done it enough in my life. Your last concept is very good

Thanks Jephyr ,thanks for the kind words!

Here are some more exploration sketches.
Gonna have to fix the armor / clothing layering, current setup makes no real sense.
Also dont like the saddle and leash on the birb atm.

Nice job on the faces!!!
Seeing a key shot of the bird in motion would be super cool. I want to try something similar, but having people riding animals/creatures is so difficult =.=

Loving the latest update, great character design and line work. Looking forward to seeing more of it developed!

RE: TrashPandas_Sketchbook_Journey to Greed Island - TrashPanda - 04-19-2025

Thanks Crowbit for coming by and with your suggestion about the bird running in action.
It is actually really hard to draw but Im sure with your smooth poses and gestures you can
definetly draw something cool!

Also thanks a lot CGmyth for the kind words, Im always impressed with the amount of
work you produce when I occasionally the forum.

With the recent update I tried to sketch some thumbnails and
to fix some proportions and designs. Grayscale comps from scratch are still
hard af to do.. They are definetely on my bucket list to improve in the future.

RE: TrashPandas_Sketchbook_Journey to Greed Island - TrashPanda - 04-21-2025

Some more sketches & thumbnails.
Value grouping in combination with shape design is still hard af to figure out.

RE: TrashPandas_Sketchbook_Journey to Greed Island - TrashPanda - 05-07-2025

Some more design explorations

Isn't the point of exploration to iterate? I feel like you need way more of those black thumbnail.

Really give yourself the chance for juicy idea to materialize.

RE: TrashPandas_Sketchbook_Journey to Greed Island - cgmythology - 05-19-2025

For the thumbnails I feel the top one works better as it breaks the symmetry more, the bottom one looks much too stiff in comparison. Very much looking forward to seeing more developments!

RE: TrashPandas_Sketchbook_Journey to Greed Island - Maxilla - 05-23-2025

Cool! I definitely agree with Cgmythology on this one! Top one is a lot more dynamic and value wise I think it's a stronger composition having the mountains in the back be a much lighter value. As for a pose, I would try and make it just a bit more dynamic. Personally I would explore if she could hold her weapon (axe? Spear? halberd?) a little bit further away from her body, and I would also make it taller or bigger.

Something about it being so close and parallel to her, as well as the same height stiffens it a bit for me, and I'm reading it as if she's getting a cold wind in her back and she's freezing up a bit from it. Unless that's the idea of course, then full speed ahead :D

Keep it up

RE: TrashPandas_Sketchbook_Journey to Greed Island - TrashPanda - 05-30-2025

- CG, thanks dude for the feedback looking back I also prefer the first version.
At the moment Im just trying ideas out in fictional settings for potential scenes.

-  Maxilla also thanks a lot for the feedback, I definetly agree that the pose looks stiff.
My lack of gesture and anatomy / figure drawing skills is bothering me a lot at the moment
since it clearly shows :/ But im going to try out your suggestion when I come back to
   the thumbnail.

I have been working on this thumbnail way too long considering how bad it turned out.
Drawing sitting people is super hard + nailing perspective with a good sense of scale and depth.
Values are also way too goofy and lack a visual read, for now I call it a day and come back to it
this weekend.
