And congrats for the 4000 hours, impressive dude. I cant totally see your style evolving into something really painterly and really really expressive ala Jaime Jones or Craig Mullins in the 4000. :) Keep punching it hard man! RE: Jake Bullock - 10000 Hour Rule - 4154/10,000 - JakeB - 04-01-2014 EduardoGaray - Cheers dude. Has some fun with that one, wasn't really sold on it though, so kinda gave up. Always hard to know which ones to take to final. Ho hum. Haha, we'll see. Gonna need a bit more time for that I think ;) Imma try though :) Not a lot to show. Couple of quick sketches And I worked into that other thing a bit more before deciding I hated it. Oops RE: Jake Bullock - 10000 Hour Rule - 4154/10,000 - Zesiul - 04-01-2014 Long time no see buddy. It seems like you've kept updating! Great to see that. Never stop! RE: Jake Bullock - 10000 Hour Rule - 4154/10,000 - Warburton - 04-02-2014 "And I worked into that other thing a bit more before deciding I hated it. Oops" Haha, I know this feeling all too well dude. Ive not 'finished' something to portfolio standard in fuckin ages :s That being said your skills are still improving nicely so just keep the workflow coming dude. Oh and gratz on passing the 4000 hour mark, that's awesome. I'm looking forward to seeing how much ass your gonna be kicking at 5000 ;) RE: Jake Bullock - 10000 Hour Rule - 4164/10,000 - JakeB - 04-02-2014 Zesiul - Haha, I'm trying. Cheers dude :) Warburton - Oh man, it's such a horrible feeling right? I just haven't started any personal work that I care about in forever. Still, sketching's kinda fun. Just gotta keep pushing, and something'll fall into place I'm sure ;) Cheers man :) Sketches, really no idea what I'm doing. Cheers, had a lot of fun with that one :) Sketches And the beginnings of a new piece. Thumbs Digital Sketches RE: Jake Bullock - 10000 Hour Rule - 4240/10,000 - JakeB - 04-12-2014 Only a sketch to show today, but I'm trying to get back into posting daily(ish) RE: Jake Bullock - 10000 Hour Rule - 4240/10,000 - Protsenko - 04-14-2014 I have watched you for a long time. Before i was sure, that you draw from imagination is not enough, but now I see it. Just keep it up Jake. I'll look and follow you. RE: Jake Bullock - 10000 Hour Rule - 4240/10,000 - JonHop - 04-14-2014 Love the energy in that skeleton sketch and the red hooded piece has really nice brush work simple but very effective, Keep pushing dude :) RE: The 10000 Hour Rule - Art Edition - 4278/10,000 - JakeB - 04-17-2014 Protsenko - Thanks man, I appreciate it. I definitely need to study from reference more, it helps a ton. But yeah, I think you can learn a lot by drawing from imagination. I neglected it for so long. Guess I'm trying to catch up ;) Jonhop - Cheers dude. I was pretty happy with how the red thing came out. Kinda fun just playing around for half an hour or so, trying to come up with something. Most of them don't work though lol. :) New stuff. I have no idea what I'm doing. Seem to be changing my plan's every couple of days at the moment. I think I know that I should just pick something and stick to it, but I keep feeling like I'm wasting my time, and changing it up. Too desperate for instant results I guess. Just gotta stick it out. Studies Fucked this one up so bad. Blurred it all lol Sketches Work on that WIP, might take one of these to a final. RE: The 10000 Hour Rule - Art Edition - 4278/10,000 - denikina - 04-17-2014 Great progress. RE: The 10000 Hour Rule - Art Edition - 4278/10,000 - Warburton - 04-22-2014 "I have no idea what I'm doing. Seem to be changing my plan's every couple of days at the moment. " Lol, every time I read a post of yours like this it's like listening to my own brain. I know these feels all too well dude. Like your never entirely sure if your studying the right things or creating pieces which will benefit you in anyway. That kinda how I always see my stuff anyway :/ My possible advice, from reading this and seeing your recent posts, is just so down a bit. Your doing a ton of work which is awesome but some more 'finished' stuff is pretty important too. Plus doing a piece for a week and doing studies around it will probably give you some more focus. Would love to see one of the wip thumbnails or sketches taken to a final man, always a fan of your sketchbook and your work regardless of what you do though mate. You know yourself better than anyone else and my advice might be bullshit so just do what your gut tells you ;) RE: The 10000 Hour Rule - Art Edition - 4302/10,000 - JakeB - 04-22-2014 Passed 4300 Hours Here denikina - Thank you :) Warburton - Haha, well at least I'm not the only one. It's a shitty feeling right? Like there's so many different areas that need working on, and there's only so many hours in a day/week/year. So either each area only gets a tiny bit of attention, or you end up neglecting loads of stuff. Not cool. You're totally right though, I need to just bite the bullet, slow it down, and focus on finishing something. Cheers Recent Stuff Studies Sketches and stuff RE: The 10000 Hour Rule - Art Edition - 4310/10,000 - JakeB - 04-23-2014 Stuff from today, Studies Sketch Early WIP, having fun with this :) RE: The 10000 Hour Rule - Art Edition - 4310/10,000 - crackedskull - 04-23-2014 Hey Jake. just dropping by to say keep up the hard work. Also I think you should get a hard ass master painting(6-12 figures in dynamic positions interacting, complex composition and colors) and study the SHIT out of it. It will be tough, it may scar you mentally, but it will help you improve in my opinion. |
