Dave the barbarian fan art - Markdotea - 10-22-2012

Hey guys I just started my brand new fan art and I need some help, first of all, I have a huge problem with muscles mainly the foreArm, I always make it look like a single piece of meat! I also would like some tips about how should I paint it, I usually use some yeallowish light as a main source of light and a blue light as a secondary.
What do u guys think of the overall idea? What kind of studies would be good for me to make my artwork better?
Thanks for helping!

Well, i recomend first of all check out your proportions, don`t worry about muscles, that come later
and check this sites, would be a great excercise for you

I loved this site! I wanna keep the cartoonish root, but wanna do a kind of realistic painting!
But I'm definitly using this site to practice, thanks a lot! I'll upload the progress!

Hey Mark, how are you?

Here is my contribution to you illustration. Notice that I´m no pro, ok? Looking at Dave´s references on google I could see a few things and tried to represent it on the paintover. Hope it can be helpful, and please, forgive my bad english.
