The posts have CA background because that is normally the only place I really post, but I won't be doing that anymore because it looks awkward on other forums lol. RE: Crimson Tipped Pencil - gangstershit - 02-06-2012 You really, really need to put more thought into your personal work particularly your gestures. Because those are hurting the most. You are really busting your ass on your bridgeman studies and the still lifes are showing the hard work, but like Dave and Dan really emphasize, you have to do use the studies while they are still fresh in your head. You have to keep it relevant. I know I have the same problem. So don't feel discouraged. But you might find yourself struggling when you need to draw a compelling bazooka fight even though you have painted a quarter million photo realistic still lifes and nudes. You have to change from your student hat to your originality hat frequently. In terms of gestured you are missing some important initial steps. You need to look for the big shape and lines of force. I think the "Drawing With Force" books could be a huge help to you. Here is the youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/drawingforce/videos As for the still lifes, it's good that you are taking on objects with strong geometric forms. If you use your imagination you can use that information for environments and stuff. For instance the mouth wash could be a space ship or the deodorant could be a jet pack, etc. |
