Rognoll's Sketchbook - Rognoll - 05-25-2013 Sorry, I accidentally my last sketchbook, so I had to do a new one. I hope I don't annoy anyone with this. Anyway, I'm gonna submit different sketches in this one. Here I go. Some studies A face study A crappy background Robot Speedpaint Sketchy sketch RE: Rognoll's Sketchbook - Rognoll - 05-28-2013 Some more face studies RE: Rognoll's Sketchbook - mdbauman - 05-28-2013 Off to a good start. Studies are cool but make sure you're thinking about the structure of what you're studying and then try to draw some stuff from imagination so you retain the information. I think you shouldn't worry so much about the single strands of hair. I like to look at Dave's April O'Neil as a good example of rendering hair: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v403/MrDelicious/April_DaveRapoza.jpg It looks super detailed, but he's mostly drawn major shapes within the hair and then drawn a couple single overlapping strands here and there to make it look more detailed. Glad to have you, hope you keep posting. RE: Rognoll's Sketchbook - Rognoll - 05-29-2013 Thanks, mdbauman! Well, I only used a reference for one of those heads and a couple of noses, I really hate copying, and I suck at it. You're right about that! thanks for the advices, man! I'll give it a try! :D Here's another sketch. Trying facial expressions out. RE: Rognoll's Sketchbook - Rognoll - 05-29-2013 Phiew! Following an advice from mdbauman, I did a face completely without reference. What do you guys think? RE: Rognoll's Sketchbook - Rognoll - 06-01-2013 Some body studies. Color Grayscale WIP Gotta fix anatomical mistakes and ugh, those boots. RE: Rognoll's Sketchbook - Rognoll - 06-04-2013 Reference-free stuff RE: Rognoll's Sketchbook - Rognoll - 06-09-2013 OK! After a hand pain week, I cna finally draw!! Thanks for the advices on getting my hand better, guys. Now, Ruined work. Ah well Differente style practice some other reference-free work Finished piece. RE: Rognoll's Sketchbook - Rognoll - 06-11-2013 quick color practice RE: Rognoll's Sketchbook - Rognoll - 06-12-2013 Color study. Used Kotaki as a reference. God, dat art. RE: Rognoll's Sketchbook - Rognoll - 06-14-2013 More comic-ish version of the same character. RE: Rognoll's Sketchbook - Art.ful - 06-14-2013 It's definitely getting better! What I would recommend you, because of personal expiriences is, to get going with very basic drawings. It's boring sometimes, but it helps alot. Drawing and perspective is just the basic number one. Keep going! RE: Rognoll's Sketchbook - Rognoll - 06-15-2013 Thanks a lot, dude! I practice anatomy and color every day. Just yesterday I saw a good advice over here on why all that work doesn't pay off as much as it should. RE: Rognoll's Sketchbook - Tygerson - 06-15-2013 Awesome expression, bold colors, and great motion! (06-14-2013, 09:27 AM)Rognoll Wrote: More comic-ish version of the same character. RE: Rognoll's Sketchbook - Rognoll - 06-20-2013 A birthday gift for my brother RE: Rognoll's Sketchbook - Yuzero - 06-20-2013 u might wanna try spending longer on ref studies, try to understand wheres what and why(thats the point afterall right?) and keep it up!you're doin good so far RE: Rognoll's Sketchbook - Damien Levs - 06-21-2013 Hey, thanks for dropping by my thread. May I suggest studying the structure of the head first if you are doing portraits. Portraits and faces are hard. I find them so difficult. You seem to be grasping it, but look at what lies beneath the skin. Study some skulls and some Andrew Loomis. Andrew Loomis will show you how to construct a head. Take your time. Stamina before speed.... RE: Rognoll's Sketchbook - Tygerson - 06-22-2013 Oh cool! I like seeing the same character in the different styles. You've created someone really recognizable. :) RE: Rognoll's Sketchbook - Rognoll - 06-22-2013 Thanks a lot for the replies, people. Much appreciated.
