Help with getting first freelance jobs - JasonClarkDesign22 - 06-25-2013

Hello everyone, I hope all is well.

I have been producing concept art for five years now. I have completed a work for a facebook game, iphone games and album covers. I have spent seven years stuck in a dark room painting all day everyday and It is time that I push for a career. I just do not know where to start.

Can anyone give me details of companies that work with smaller artists or any information related. My family think ill of my choice of career and remind me of this every time I see them and I must prove them wrong.

I am 24 now and I am willing to work all the hours under the sun, your help will be gretly appreciated.

Hi Jason,

A few companies to whom you can send your portfolio : Fantasy flight games, moonga.. I'm sure people here can name a few others

Post in the job section of forums like CA.org and CGHUB

I have no experience with sites like elance, pph etc.. But you can always look into it.
A solid online presence is the best bet when you're doing freelance, I'd suggest updating your online portfolio and of course network !

Cheers

Hey guys, Thank you for getting back to me this means a lot. Both the website and the companies will be a great help.

Are you two freelance artists, how long did it take you from start to making a living. I have always regretted starting to late, 18 when I started.

No such thing as starting to late my friend, employers don't care about your age or anything like that. The only difference age really makes is the amount of free time in which to spend getting better.
