RE: Fedodika the Koala - Fedodika - 09-09-2019

Coinhero; thanks for the suggestions! im truckin through these tutorials, theyre quite helpful, i feel i just need a quick go to thing to get some cool shapes down quickly, and thats what i got. also some useful assets and things, im loving the work the brushes can do when im not expecting it; its a powerful design tool if you can pull something out of it

Dawkward: I appreciate your kind words and they are very reassuring, i just need to get a few more pieces done before i try to present myself to the world. But really, your words are too kind and mean alot!

I fiddled with a 3d sketch i did with some random brushes to try stuff out in 3dcoat. Then i took it into painter and made it a little more tangible, took about an hour for this result and i do like that work flow it gets cool shapes in very little effort and time spent, plus its easy to experiment with proportions and get unexpected results with like the voxel hide tool for example

Im on the side doing lots of gesture things so i hope to apply that tomorrow

RE: Fedodika the Koala - Fedodika - 09-11-2019

had a good day today, sold 2 pieces at a gallery show, not for a whole lot, but i still sold them! even ended up posing in my costume i usually wear, idk if i mentioned this but about a year ago when i go to draw caricature i wear a thick black cape and a pirate hat. At first i felt it was a risk but its only seemed to benefit me. Its a technique called peacocking, not everyone can pull it off, but if youre quite charismatic, people cant get the upper hand on you if they try to pick on you, which rarely happens to me anyways. ive started wearing it to any event i do caricature, and 2 gallery shows now. People like it, it helps me stick out and is an instant ice breaker since they are invited to comment on my outrageous appearahce

Thinkin about gettin a banana costume soon ;)

Anywho, the following drawings are some fun applications i did from masters of anatomy. some sketches i did of some internet friends; always good to build rappore or make any side benefit whilst you practice

RE: Fedodika the Koala - Fedodika - 09-16-2019

been busy watchin lots of NMA vids lately, so heres a small post in the meantime of a oil painting and some life drawz

RE: Fedodika the Koala - darktiste - 09-16-2019

Got a hard question for you i think what would you say is your comfort zone?

RE: Fedodika the Koala - Gliger - 09-17-2019

bevel game weak, look at brian sum

RE: Fedodika the Koala - Coinhero - 09-18-2019

Paint the "Meg" drawing from your previous post, it's super great!

RE: Fedodika the Koala - Fedodika - 09-19-2019

Darkiste: just because im decent at something, doesnt mean im comfortable drawing it at every step

Gliger: ya i gotta work on my bevel game, its a mysterious language, but im digging it. copying that one book was a great first step though

Coinhero: thanks for the suggestion :) ill probably keep sketching around because i think i can do better, but im really happy you like it!

More sketches of friends and some imagination sketches, having lots of fun with these

RE: Fedodika the Koala - Fedodika - 09-25-2019

these are from the past couple weeks, ive been busy the past couple days on non art stuff, will have some good ol applications tomorrow hopefully so i can keep this planet moving up the hill

RE: Fedodika the Koala - Fedodika - 09-27-2019

did a daily spitpaint today, was alot of fun

i did a study or two of some byzantine armor and a rhino afterwards and put another hour on the piece

May do alot more of these to give me some direction and something to work at each day since i mean i like doing studies but its nice to have some way to apply them and the thing i struggle most with is just coming up with an idea of what to draw. I can spend hours and sometimes ill waste a day trying to find a cool pose, or create something but ideas never come when you try to make them come. The prompt is usually silly so it just throws an image in my head and im not emotionally invested in it being perfect so i just roll with it, so i think that'll be healthy

RE: Fedodika the Koala - Fedodika - 09-28-2019

super fun life drawing today,  finally made my first instagram post

RE: Fedodika the Koala - Fedodika - 09-30-2019

daily speedpaint was "formidable opponent," totally bombed this one, and saw how i have this really goofy way of drawing creatures with snouts like dragons or dogs/wolves. So to patch that study up i did some studies of dog skulls and saw how the teeth point back, they only have 4 large sharp teeth, the snout is much shorter than i usually draw it, etc.

Also watchin some mark westermoe stuff on nma about the reilly method, its impressive learning from these old dudes. Also watching more on 3dcoat and some darek zabroki gumroad about photo bashing landscapes, which is among some things i want to get more developed in.

I like these imagination sketches too, cool little spontaneous characters, which is what im usually going for

RE: Fedodika the Koala - Fedodika - 10-01-2019

RE: Fedodika the Koala - Fedodika - 10-02-2019

RE: Fedodika the Koala - Abnormal - 10-03-2019

It is incredible that with a couple of adjustments you made in your life, how much it has affected you in a positive way and everything that you have improved in a relatively short time Sugoi! ^^

RE: Fedodika the Koala - Fedodika - 10-03-2019

abnormal: many thanks my dude, gotta turn that sinkin ship around

Go harder draw moar

RE: Fedodika the Koala - Fedodika - 10-04-2019

did a study of brian sum today, learned  a fuck load and went and applied to my own robot. learning more about 3d, and its downright sorcery; hopefully be able to cue it up soon for something interesting

RE: Fedodika the Koala - Leo Ki - 10-04-2019

I would venture a critique: Your charcoals have structure to them but I can't read the volumes well. Not sure if it's a problem with the contrasts, or the direction of the strokes, or something else entirely. Sorry if that doesn't help, it's just a viewer's point of view - I'm not good at charcoal.

RE: Fedodika the Koala - Fedodika - 10-07-2019

Leo: i punched up some contrast on the photo, maybe that'll help it read better

some more figure drawing and a design for a friends tattoo; i'll have lots of sketches studies tomorrow

RE: Fedodika the Koala - Leo Ki - 10-08-2019

Thank you for trying the contrast tweak but I think it's something else. I spotted some charcoals a few pages back in which you applied the shadow on lesser surfaces and they read better to me. Also studies with more value steps. But I understand life drawing is timed and you can't be as subtle.
I dig your Winona Ryder painting - will go on exploring your 107 pages little by little.

RE: Fedodika the Koala - Fedodika - 10-08-2019

Leo Ki: thanks my dude, hey if you cant make out what something is, just know this little  koala was scrubbin away at somethin and shared the energy!

Lots of studies today, did an imagination naked lady, gonna go study some knees and feet tomorrow since i want to design those better. Im loving studying leyendecker and charles dana gibson among these books im slowly chipping away at. Its really satisfying to notice little things i can add to enhance a design, trying to blend lots of influences so i dont look like one person too much
