RE: Johnscj's Sketchbook - Tygerson - 09-05-2013

Great practice! I like how you add the circles to feel the curve of the forms.

RE: Johnscj's Sketchbook - Johnscj - 09-06-2013

Alright, only this for today!

RE: Johnscj's Sketchbook - smrr - 09-07-2013

Hey John, these Hampton studies look great! Is he the only anatomy master you've studied from? Looks like you're learning loads!

Keep it up man! :D

RE: Johnscj's Sketchbook - Izzual - 09-07-2013

Great to learn from Hampton ! You will learn tons with him ! :D

If you'd like to combine him with others I'd suggest you to study Bridgman and Loomis too :)

Keep it up !

RE: Johnscj's Sketchbook - Johnscj - 09-08-2013

@smrrfette: I studied some Loomis a while ago but didn't stick to it.
@Izzual : I am definetly going to do that. When i finish fully studying Michael Hampton, i will move to Loomis and Bridgman

zzzzz
Didn't do much today.. Internet hooked me up
More Hampton studies! I won't stop until I finish the whole book! gogo
Oh.. and i learned I can't draw boxes.. damn :(

Toucan study, a little bit modified on the beak.

RE: Johnscj's Sketchbook - Johnscj - 09-10-2013

More Hampton and some Volcano!
edit: i changed the size of the images, it was too big :P

RE: Johnscj's Sketchbook - Vandall - 09-10-2013

Studies are looking great and going well mate, good work on the environment just be careful to paint what you see and not in symbols. Only example of that I can see is the angle of the houses roof is flat where in the photo its angled, hope Ive helped mate.

RE: Johnscj's Sketchbook - Johnscj - 09-10-2013

Couldn't sleep, so I thumbnailed an idea i had in mind!

@Vandall: thanks for the point out man, I noted that on my "don't do" list. :)

RE: Johnscj's Sketchbook - Johnscj - 09-11-2013

More Hampton and a study I did for the speedpaint group on DA.

RE: Johnscj's Sketchbook - Johnscj - 09-12-2013

Hmm...

RE: Johnscj's Sketchbook - Johnscj - 09-15-2013

Soo.. yeah.. i got bored of Hampton. I will go back to it though. :D

That last one I'm thinking of doing a full piece of it, I want to know how far I can go so I can continue to improve! Crits and stuff are appreciated!

RE: Johnscj's Sketchbook - Johnscj - 10-02-2013

From yesterday and today. Both took me the whole afternoon :O

RE: Johnscj's Sketchbook - Johnscj - 10-04-2013

Argg, i'm really frustrated because of those two landscapes, i can't get the values nor the atmosphere on the painting... I'm just going to spend some hours looking and studying some Feng Zhu stuff in grayscale tomorrow.
If any of you have any suggestions to save me, I'd appreciate it a alot
The creature thingy was inspired by one his videos.

RE: Johnscj's Sketchbook - Matija Vuk - 10-05-2013

Heeeey, I got a schedule down and i'll to do everything it says for atleast a week, lets get started! --- :D
So this is from the a few days ago that i just felt like trying out some CA challenges, im not really sure if I'll finish anything.

I did not like the composition, or the values i got there, so i re-did it.

Stuff from today , and i managed to delete a skull study that i had done previous to the one below..

Self-Portrait! Insane, ecstatic

RE: Johnscj's Sketchbook - Johnscj - 10-16-2013

Still Life, study of beaaar and some thumbnails to apply a little bit of what i learned from the study and to what i think (hope) i will take on to a finished piece.. And i loved doing these 90sec animals! so much fun
