Timothy Kong's sketchbook - Ying_dragoon - 09-12-2013 Hey everyone! My name is Timothy Kong and I'm a aspiring concept artist, I hope to learn a lot and be inspired from all the amazing people who are on this site, best of all make some great friends as well! Right since this is my first post it'll start off a little bulky ( I hope this doesn't pose as a problem) This will only be a one off thing (hopefully as long as I update regularly). Anyways Hope you folks enjoy and I'm also very very open to any C & C First off some personal illustration and concepts: some character designs & sketches A small sketch series I did recently for fun A few more concepts for a small idea/world Ive been working on Thats it for now, I hope that didn't sting the eyes too much :D, also if i've done something wrong (such as too many pics on first post or something) then do let me know! Peace out guys! And I'll update as much as can in the future RE: Timothy Kong's sketchbook - Felidarc - 09-14-2013 Hey Timothy and welcome to CD! I can see you've been working a lot on your skills and it shows in your paintings. The colours and hues are great! I really enjoyed looking at your art. Maybeifirubmyfaceagainsthescreenitrubsoffonme May I ask how you practiced colours/light? :) I'm having big issues with that still. It's noticable though that you lack some skill in Masses and Shapes, especially anatomy of the torso & arms. You do great painings but don't forget to do plain and maybe even bad looking anatomy studies aswell! (I know most of my studies are bad as hell). It's just learning the rules (torso is so many heads long, so many heads wide) and then applying it to your art. Keep going, you're really gonna go places! Also thank you for the C&C, when you say masses and shapes do you mean that the rendering of the form is poor or the general drawing itself is bad? Regardless I definitely need to work harder on my fundamentals. Regarding colours and light my best advice aside from studying from life and photos is to really try and understand how the world works, really observe how colour interacts with the environment depending the objects around it and the type of light source that is shining on it. Try to think about that when your are doing lighting studies. Thanks again for the comment, I'll hopefully push for more updates soon! RE: Timothy Kong's sketchbook - Sublimus - 09-14-2013 Welcome! Some really nice stuff in here! RE: Timothy Kong's sketchbook - Ying_dragoon - 09-14-2013 Some more studies, most of them are actually master studies ( actually some of these are quite old), I apologise for the second huge dump, this should be the last set, it should stay consistent from now on :). Some old stuff that I can just about tolerate :) Thanks for looking guys! RE: Timothy Kong's sketchbook - Felidarc - 09-14-2013 Wow that's an incredible amount of studies and works! awesome, you're a huge inspiration! Thanks for the tips regarding the colours =) I'll need to do some more studies... And with mass i mean for example the Torso shape! |
