Painting Creature Fur - NateHallinan - 01-01-2014

This is basically how I go about creating fur for creatures. It may seem like a lot of steps, but it goes very quick once you have it down.

You, Sir, have an amazing way of rendering things. Have been admiring your stuff on FB for a while. You're like a human shader tree from a 3D rendering application :D
If I might as a question, do you always paint like this, in "passes" so to speak? Or do you also paint in a more impressionistic/painterly manner (just straiught from the visual field without "deconstructing" the visuals if that makes sense)?
