Personally, I'm trying to break from the digital quirks I'm so accustom to. I see that using brush texture won't simply solve that problem. I'm looking into visual perceptions such as depth and edges and limiting values. I dunno, what do you think?

Ooooh, niiiiice! That's digital? It's mimicking traditional closely with the canvas texture. Not much I can say really, maybe darken under his jaw line more to separate it from the background, since the shoulders are separated out and they're in the same plane of depth.
