Time to get some real work done! - Jeanneillustrates - 01-19-2015 Hey! Thanks for coming in and looking at my sketchbook. Here are a few facts. 1. I don't draw daily, even though I know I should. I am going to work on that in the coming year. 2. I sketch mostly when I want to do a finished project, so most of these are simply ideas for a bigger piece. 3. I went to an art school that was about being "creative" and less about technical ability/precision. I felt like I learned some things, but not what I needed to learn to be an illustrator and as a result I use reference as a crutch. Without it, I am paralyzed on the page and the quality of my work plummets. 4. This year I want to try and understand/use constructive form in my drawings, rather than the academic method that I learned to draw by. You will see that in upcoming posts as I am going to use Proko.com and my Andrew Loomis books and any other resources I can get my hands on (suggestions?) to become a better artist. Once again, thank you for looking! RE: Time to get some real work done! - Adam Lina - 01-19-2015 I love those wolf drawings. In addition to proko and Loomis I'd suggest Scott Robertson's book How to Draw. Its the perspective Bible pretty much. RE: Time to get some real work done! - Jeanneillustrates - 01-19-2015 Thank you! I've been doing a lot of stuff with wolves lately, apparently. :D They are fun to draw. Thanks for the suggestion! I'll definitely pick it up! |
