Gueko's Sketchbook - Gueko - 02-03-2018 So! This is my first step on the journey to be an better artist. I never got enough courage to join an art community before, but here I am *sigh*.
I struggle a lot, not just in a artistic way, but in terms of communication too. My english is pretty broken and that it's other thing that I want to overcome. Here are some of last week sketches. I'll try to post them in a regular basis. One of my goals this year is to be less bad in environment and perspective drawing/painting.
C&C are really welcome! RE: Gueko's Sketchbook - Artloader - 02-04-2018 Welcome to the forum Gueko, nice start here. Your sketches have a nice solidity to them. Keep thinking 3-dimensionally like you are and don't be afraid to sketch in a basic 3D form first and then construct details on top of that. There are some great lessons over at drawabox.com if you haven't seen them already. Keep going my friend :). RE: Gueko's Sketchbook - HIRVIOS - 02-05-2018 I like your shape language, Post more! RE: Gueko's Sketchbook - Gueko - 02-09-2018 @HIRVIOS Thank you dude! Sure I'll! @Artloader Thanks! I'll do my best. I saw people speaking about drawbox, didn't done anything yet, but surely I will :D RE: Gueko's Sketchbook - Gueko - 02-09-2018 Didn't so much in last days. But I tried to redo a character from a game my friend did. The purpose isn't redesign the character in a serious way, but a funny render practice, because I rarely finish my drawings. Btw, he's called Mr Elastic lol. RE: Gueko's Sketchbook - HIRVIOS - 02-09-2018 You need to grind your fundamentals dude; Visit the resource page and check out the first two posts provided by Rey and Diarum - http://crimsondaggers.com/forum/thread-3.html RE: Gueko's Sketchbook - Fedodika - 02-09-2018 Haha Your style reminds me of my old lover smrrfette... Specially in the mario one! https://stephrani.deviantart.com ya grindey grindey, what Hirvios said :O These are good books btw get em all: https://img.4plebs.org/boards/pol/image/1515/92/1515929489113.png RE: Gueko's Sketchbook - Gueko - 02-09-2018 @HIRVIOS and Fedodica, sure I will! But not sure what to study first. This is my art shelf today (plus loomis pdf's, because his books is sooooo expensive here in Brazil and I hadn't a chance to buy yet). I'm willing to try a finished illustration, but I'm already suffering cause it's going to suck. Should I try to master study some of my reference artists pieces before? What you guys think? RE: Gueko's Sketchbook - Fedodika - 02-09-2018 well when i look at your stuff there is a definite stiffness of the gestures; I dunno dude its a tough question to answer. Maybe attempt a finished piece, test your workflow and i can advise you from there ;) not a bad collection btw ;) RE: Gueko's Sketchbook - HIRVIOS - 02-10-2018 My opinion RE: Gueko's Sketchbook - Gueko - 02-20-2018 Well, unfortunately i didn't have so much time to practice this days. So today I did some study on values with the planes of the head thing at my lunch time. RE: Gueko's Sketchbook - Tygerson - 02-20-2018 Well, you've already got some skills there. Looks like you've made a solid first pass through all the fundamentals. Better than me, for sure. As far as what books to focus on, I can't answer for you. If you look at your drawings, what do you feel is stopping you from painting what you want to paint? Is it perspective drawing? Is it rendering different materials? Is it color and natural lighting? I'd start with the thing you most want to see improved in your painting. Here is what a i recommend to learn drawing figure quickly. The number represent the order each book should be readed throught. Some book have 2 number it mean they can be read at the same time and still be somewhat possible to understand. I recommend you read then copy some image from the book then try to apply on some imaginative work to gain more info on what you need to improve. RE: Gueko's Sketchbook - Gueko - 02-24-2018 @Fedodika, HIRVIOS, Darksite Thank you dudes for the book order recommendations, i'll start with these. @Tygerson That's a pretty good idea. I was so concerned about this background and perspective thing, and of course is important but, what I really actually want to do is this mtg/blizzard/riot fantasy art focused mainly in the characters. So I'll adjust the percentages I want to study on each subject. I'll start trying to improve my value/rendering, so I can communicate form without lines. Just started a prerecorded Sam Nielson's class on Form and Light. This is my first assignment (without review because i'm poor) |
