Agreed, your traditional sketches are bursting with personality.

Thx, cgmythology! Just checked your Instagram, your art is killer!

Well, these here are the concept artworks/roughs I created (from imagination) on Clip Studio Paint focused on design margin for error (Concept art subject matters by drawing difficulty), and you can watch the recorded Art stream from yesterday: https://www.twitch.tv/gansogeeksout

I've done (3) three more concept roughs, you can check them out here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CUdSyeQl5HI/

Thx, Zizka. Wow, luv your pixelart, man. Snap, you enjoy (漢字成り立ち) kanji naritati too? Japanese etymology (and mnemonics) is one of my big interests. Yayzers.

Nice updates, love the first one especially, great composition especially! Are you planning on painting it in?

This one? I liked it too, chinese trees are visually very very unique. I wonder what kind of 2D painting rendering would work best... (?)

..btw (!), today I done a Live Streaming "Rampage" hehehe... here it goes, as part of SupDoodles!

1 of 4) yt *YOuTUbe --with Rebelle 3
2 of 4) fb *FAceBOok --with Clip Studio Paint EX
3 of 4) Twitch.TV --with Krita 5.0
4 of 4) IGTV --with Corel Painter 20/20

So.. which 2D painting rendering do you think would look best or better adhere to the chinese tree forest mood?

I'm having a bit of a draw block these days. So I'm taking nude model observation drawing. Second session happened the previous Friday. *Didn't paint nipples nor any other NSFW stuff:

IGTV link here.

Cheers!!

INT 'Cronenberg Invadors' [wip]
Hello, guys. This here is a recent artwork of mine, about 75% done. It is quite complex, includes a lot of the stuff I'm constantly studying separately (such as 2d rendering/painting primitive geometric volumes in perspective). Similar to a EXT scene I painted a while ago (the one that had a purple dragon in a park lake). So here we go, the WIP so far on this brand new INT scene:

[Image: 20220412_132010.jpg?width=601&height=697]
*primitives in perspective

[Image: 20220412_133836.jpg?width=697&height=697]*gesture drawings

*poses

*drapery

[Image: 20220412_145038.jpg?width=697&height=697]
*very happy with this pose from imagination

[Image: 20220412_150407.jpg?width=697&height=697]
*anatomy study

[Image: trad_comp_Cronenberg_Invadors_04-2022__p...height=697]
*environment and perspective traditional painting of it all (india inks and black+white grayscale gouache), a huge A2 (16.5 x 23.4 in) opaline canvas

[Image: 20220412_182734.jpg?width=697&height=697]
*luv how these turned out

...and later I started working on the digital version of it (almost from scratch)
(?) hey, guys -is there a way to embed videos here? I have the YouTube link, but what's necessary to embed it here on the forum?
*got plenty of feedbacks from a great artist called Kuya (she's on Twitch.tv)

*here's how it gone after some of her feedbacks, and so on the next steps bellow:

*the edges of the cast shadow as it gets farther from the door

*the entrance wall casting shadow on the stairs

*Link to the YouTube video.

*here comes trouble, getting confused with the shadows casted by them primitives (spheres placed where the characters will be)

*more and more confused

*started working on the creatures/characters nevertheless (I set the shadow of the scorpion on top of the shadow of the wall, that makes no sense)

*corrected (I have a lot to thx for Kuya helping me figure it out)

*Luv the David Cronenberg influenced stuff btw(!) here's the YouTube video of this step in the wip.

*pretty sure this is safe for work

*Here's the tentacle girrl (to me it is totally safe for work, but lemme know if not)
And so is the YouTube video link to this far. Thx for reading/watching, guys.

Cheers to that!

RE: NSFW - Sup Doodles? Ganço's sketchbook [occasional doodles] - darktiste - 04-17-2022

You should simplify really not the other way around go check my sketchbook i did some value study around the last page of it.It not about the complexity it about the relationship of object once you understand the behavior of light everything is just a matter of calculating the degre of a plane receive light relative to the light source which is also a matter of good understanding of perspective. You don't need complex object to get better at understanding the principle.

You could say i learn by the motto don't put to much nor not enough in your learning plate.

With all honesty i think if my assumption are right that you just find that pure fundamental study to be to boring it evident by the very abstract subject drawn here.Principle are not boring at all when you understand the implication of good execusion.

Take a 3 cube and 3 sphere put them in a scene and just get the cast shadow right you can go crazy and make the cast shadow overlap or the shape sit on top of an other for extra challenge.Really it already complex if you ain't satisfied thrown in a pyramid a cylinder or a polygone.

Do that for multiple light scenario and you will get better at plotting the cast shadow and other light and shadow related task.Kick the confusion in the ball or suffer a headache that what learning is all about.

I also do some object material 2d painting to help me grab some reference from where to get inspired when creating from imagination. I totally agree and understand it is mostly about simplification, that's why I first use/render basic primitives (spheres, instead of full characters). I think it is the best practice, when you combine both, I mean, when you paint simple/primitive geometry/volumes and then try to use that information to paint other stuff (complex or not).

Here's one of those studies I just mentioned:

[Image: obj_materials_girl_on_casco_de_armadura_...height=697]

I liked your studies, the value studies are awesome. We learn a lot from those. I saw you also done some silhouette studies, man I love all the range from strong silhouettes (from imagination or IRL), to primitive geometry value studies, and to anything we're able to try tackle.

My deepest gratitude for giving me feedback on my underground arts & goods. I'm glad to have you stop by!
Cheers to that!

ikr! luv that Scott Robertson skills, master of vehicle designs! Got on my bookshelf both his art canons: How To Draw and How To Render. Feng Zhu (from Singapore's FZD) mentioned as "everything you'd have to learn, no book besides these two are necessary"!

Well i actually disagree specially if you are doing figure drawing i suggest a book on gesture and one on anatomy. Loomis come to mind.As much as How to draw and render is a good book it doesn't cover concept such as proportion proven simplification approch to human anatomy and principle like weight distribution it also doesn't cover concept such as color theory when it come to the more artistic side it a very purely speaking grounded in realism which mean it doesn't touch on stuff like composition very much. For art theory i recommend checking the free resource https://www.ctrlpaint.com/library the number of free video and the organized format is a must for any artist who want a more structural approch to learning to draw.I also suggest drawbox.com for similar reason but it main strenght is to help the artist pay respect to the fundamental in practical exercise that will follow them in whatever journey they take. But feng zhu as also an amazing collection on how to think like a designer which i was very impress with.
