Hi there! - Citrus - 03-20-2026 Hello! I stumbled upon this place through a wonderful recommendation. I've missed real internet forums so much over the years! I used to be active on YugiohCardMaker Forum decades ago and a few others. I was really into making forum signatures lol. But yes I love real forums! There's just something less corporate and artificial about them. More human. It's a shame they were replaced by social media for the most part, but they'll never get popular again if people don't join them, so here I am! I've been drawing very casually for a few years, but very inconsistently. A few months ago I decided I wanted to take things more seriously. I've joined a mentorship under Mike086 where I feel a little in over my head hahaha. I'm not as experienced or skilled as most people here. I think that's probably a good thing. I believe throwing yourself head-first into the deep-end is one of the best ways to learn yknow? People learn foreign languages better by moving to a foreign country than they do by using duolingo, right? Anyway, my main obsessions right now are Naka's March Hotel, Gorillaz, Slay the Spire 2, Northernlion and Drawfee, lol. Nice to meet you :) Also! I see the sketchbook section and would like to make one, are they just threads where I can post my daily work and sketches? Or should I resist the urge to post literally *everything* I work on LOL? RE: Hi there! - darktiste - 03-20-2026 It serious love for this place to have waited to be accepted. There is a big rule here and it dont be an asshole. The thing about posting everything you do is documenting everything that a time investment that not always gonna be useful but it as it use some people like to journal way more than other.Obviously let say you would be to post 10 page of warm up circle it probably not gonna be useful to post. Personally i would post mostly your let say 10 last piece if you can called anything you made a ''piece'' and to be a lil more specific when i say ''piece'' i mean what you would consider your best work something you actually probably planned for or render to your best ability .You can also maybe try to show us what medium(traditional) or program you use not super useful but something you can get better feedback related to your specific workflow. Sorry if some of the term i use are artsy i dont know how fluent you are with the art vocabulary. That the problem of being a artist for almost a decade now.I dont want to assume someone fluency. You will find what suit you oversharing or not there is no right or wrong regardless of my own philosophy.Personally i like to try to give some context to whatever i am doing and what i am trying to achieve and not just post the work as it can be a little dry and keep people in the dark but hey some people just want to be mysterious like that. Oh don't worry about vocabulary! I've been off and on for about 5 years, so I'm not that new or anything. I do appreciate the concern though! Your explanation for what to post makes a lot of sense. I probably wont do warmups like circles/boxes but besides finished pieces I might also post sketches and thumbnails and such. And yes! I like talking so I will probably give context too. Nice to meet you btw! |
