How do you gain experience as an aspiring concept artist?

Try a lot of different things. Do creatures, characters, enviros, props, etc. And try to get to work on something. That way you'll learn how it is to be part of a team. If you can't find a team, build a team. Start a project. Check out "the skillfull huntsman" for that.
