Noodle: Great point! Ya i scribbled those out not even thinking of all the structural stuff i had learned, and didn't even bother using it on one of them. I guess I'll have to lay in a bunch more until it feels natural to just sketch in that way and make charming characters that dont have wonky proportions. And ya that's an interesting observation on the eye, the reference i was using had a similar shape, but i suppose i could have emphasized the 3d form of it better by showing roundness ;) Not gonna use that sketch tho, i can make a better comp, im sure of it!
Loader: yes, I have seen that dudes stuff, and something he said at some point "you find your own rythms" There's so many different grids and stuff to follow, its all really just ways to simplify planes of the face and feature placement. Ive found the best way is just to copy other people using it and develop your own system based on that. Thx btw!
Gueko: That's good to know i'll keep it in mind for that book! I would like to be able to execute nice charcoal drawings, it would be a great income earner if I could just get my stuff accurate enough for presenation; Thanks for the comments btw, very appreciated!
So i got pretty tired today, and i was trying to think of a new composition from the flower girl thing; it's just tough, but im probably gonna fuck around with Daz3d studio tomorrow and find some poses, and then abstract some shapes on top of that as a base to find camera angles etc. Probably gonna be 2-3 tone at first for the thumbnails. I wanna go for a more middle major key and a low minor. I really love dreamlike paintings with low contrast, I just need to figure out how to do em!
This is the only thing i drew today, not very proud of it, but I am figuring a lot of stuff out upstairs!
