Because of my ridiculous RSI, I'll often disappear.
That doesn't mean I quit. I'm too stubborn for that.
No matter how long it takes, I'll always come back. Until my account gets hacked or something >_>

Today/Yesterday's, just starting again after recovering from the nth flare up:
all from life

Spying on people in my street.
My gestures are so embarassing, this is the only page I dare post.

Mandatory life drawing, that looks nothing like me XD
I really need to get myself a bigger mirror. It'd make drawing my face so much easier.

I swear the exam stress is making me even worse at drawing than I already am >:0
I guess it's 'cause I feel guilty and panicky when I'm not studying :/

stress is making me utterly useless. Drawing and studying-wise T^T
One page of Loomis down, 19 to go to complete ch 1 (and then apply it).
Bunch of stuff :/
Just slowly getting into the groove again.

After midnight drawing sesh.

No thinking, no erasers, no pencil to rub out... just my fountain pen and less than 5 minutes.

This is one of those few times where I really have fun with drawing without any goal in mind except to just draw (drawing for the sake of drawing...does that make sense? I'm someone who usually can't enjoy something unless it's useful/has a purpose etc.), so....
I'm sure some people will hate me for this ('cause of the crappy drawings I produce), but I'm going to do this more often ^_^

Just to let go every now and then.

Though... I could pay more attention to drawing arms >_>

15 pages of drawing left of chapter 1. Woot!
Hey, nice SB you have here! Anatomy studies are great, but push a little harder and concentrate more on the forms. Keep it up!
Hi Nika!

Thanks for visiting my sketchbook and also thank you for the advice...

Sorry if I sound stupid, but by "form", do you mean the shapes the human body is built up with (e.g. boxes/spheres)?

So, after I draw the Loomis mannequin, I should then focus on the form (and after that on the shape)?

I'll try it for my next drawing session :)
ice breaker (whenever I feel intimidated by a subject I just draw whatever I see in front of me without fussing over it... it always works to get me in the mood and makes me want to improve :))

usually gestures wake me up... not today though.

not a whole lot to show today.
I was half asleep doing these.
I need squeeze in drawing during breakfast/lunch.

Tried to draw form... but not 100% sure I'm getting it yet
Hi there!

So far so good. I'm happy to see you're working on Loomis! That's good. One thing I would recommend is that you try using fewer lines when you're drawing a figure. Slow down and just think about what you're drawing. Also to answer your question about form, yes. Cylinders, boxes, balls :) Oh and you can check this out. It may help you to see the process. Take care and keep on drawing :)
I really do need to slow down (you're not the first to tell me. Doh)
So, while I didn't have much time to draw today, I kept telling myself "SLOW DOWN"
and I'll keep doing it until it becomes habit ^_-

I tried to experiment with form before seeing your post,
but thanks for the link! I think those pictures will be useful (and I might get the video on putting shapes together too!).

Next time I'll try to apply what I learn from the pictures... though I really need to look into perspective to do that succesfully I think...

But, now I really get why it's important to draw from life (I always just assumed and figured it was important for colour... but..now I'm this much closer to fully getting it :D)

Anyway, I was able to squeeze in a little drawing between studying... didn't even have time for lunch/breakfast T_T

tried to experiment with form, but definitely need to read up on it/find more examples/actually study *gulp* perspective...

but here it is:

Used a mannequin for these two:

I'm going at a snail's pace with Loomis' book.
Not a bad start Ebi. I see you're going through loomis. One thing to keep in mind, though it may seem silly as you want to hop in and draw right away, But even with the Manikin loomis shows, establish your action lines and your center line for the characters balance.

Im no pro but it has helped me understand a bit better. Maybe itll help you. Keep going.
Thanks for visiting Pete!
That's exactly what I was planning to do next time I do my studies!

Because, without those lines my manikins become like wobbly old people.

Though I do have some trouble with the balance lines that don't make a 90° angle with the floor...
But in those cases, I'll try to pay attention and make sure the weight is evenly distributed.

Not sure if this falls under form, but here we go:

Trying to draw an Apple from life, focusing on form. I think each drawing lasted about 7 to 10 minutes. The last one is around 20 minutes. :/

Saw something like this in my drawing essentials book, so I thought I'd give it a try.

It's quite a challenge trying to find where the apple gets uneven and such.

And, I definitely would have to work on this more, obviously.
As this is just one apple, but you can't really tell that from the drawings.

Then I tried to do some shading, but that failed terribly.

So, I guess I'll continue to draw apples until I get it right, because eventually want to paint one. :)
And then I'll slowly add different types of fruit until I can draw/paint a fruit bowl :D
I finally decided to take the plunge and try oil paints again.

I'm so glad I did! Even though it's not perfect, I think this one turned out so much better
than the previous disaster ---> http://i848.photobucket.com/albums/ab46/...73b1fe.png

and my crappy setup with the finished painting:

The only thing that bothers me is the shadow of the apple's stalk... But I'm afraid I'll mess up if I do anything about it...

Some things I learned:

1. The color you think you see may not be the colors you think they are.
I never thought I would use really light orange for an apple that I assumed was red.

2. Maybe it's better to work in an ventilated room, instead of my tiny bedroom.
*high off turpentine XD* And my lungs feel "tired" >_>

3. Don't be stingy with your paints.

I didn't use any turpentine though (during painting...the fat over lean rule). Should I have?
Procrastinating.

My head is all AMIGAWWWWWD EXAM TOMORROW AND I KNOW NOTHINGGGGGGGGG AMIGAWWWWWD
so... I'll just draw instead XD

warm up:

and another page of Loomis down! *celebrates*
[Image: scan0186_zps12ccd6f3.jpg]

some more form stuff ^_^

But I totally forgot about... PROPORTIONS.

And I went a little line crazy... again -_-
Just a bunch of stupid stuff. Testing my A5 Daler Rowney dummy.
(got a parcel from an art store with stuff to make my own oil paint, so I can feel less guilty using more paint* XD only "safe" pigments though. Got the sketchbook too.

*logic...there is none.)

Lots of RSI pain these days, gives me headaches and makes me freaking cranky.

10-20 minutes per figure.

And I can't stop giving these poor girls raptor arms!
Most heads are too small too.

Note to self:
Once the pain goes down again I'm going to tackle perspective! :D
Great progress Ebi, and about your questions 1.Form is the shape, visual appearance, or configuration of an object. 2. After you study Loomis try to draw everything you like ( get a break from study). Enjoy doing this!
Thanks Nika!
Sorry for my late reply >_<
I'll continue with form/shape...
and defintely :D I recently cleared out my entire room so now I have a nice spot for still lives/self portraits and such :D

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes... I'm still alive XD

I haven't done as much drawing as I wanted to these past months.
I blame getting the flu 2 times, exam stress and friggin' RSI thanks to me being a wuss and not being able to say "NO! F*** YOU! DO IT YOURSELF!" to classmates.

But now I'm back and intend to do my daily gestures and perspective/loomies studies again :)

I was failing an exam... so I drew my classmate on scribble paper instead. People move a lot when thinking about the Newton Raphson method.*nods*
So after months and months of stress and studying and stress and studying and freaking out over school...

I PASSED MY EXAMS XD I'M NOT GETTING KICKED OUT WOOHOO!
(in the Netherlands, if you don't get the 60 credits for your first year within 2 years, you get kicked out...but if you get those 60 credits, after that you're safe for the remainder of the course).

So...now I can finally relax draw again ^^

I'm pretty much back to zero though. :/

Some crappy gestures...
Hopefully the RSI will settle down soon so I can do more. I am really craving to paint again.
And to start finishing my dagger goals so I can reach level 3!
