Hi, I just signed up here after lurking for a while. I'm trying to get into doing daily practice of art (traditional/digital) and I'm hoping that if I also make myself post as much as possible online it'll help encourage me to continue (or cripple me with fear). At the moment I'm doing a lot of photo studies and sketching from life to trying to build up my confidence with selecting colours and making accurate marks. I'd post some sketchbook work but I'm afraid I don't have a scanner, I'll try and take some photos tomorrow when it's daylight. Here are a couple of photo studies I did in the last week:

I tend to work with a hard brush with a pressure variable opacity because I'm not confident about choosing colours and blending them on the canvas but I find this can give a muddy effect sometimes. I need to be more confident about the colours I'm choosing and making sure my strokes really define the form, rather than just dotting colours about.
