Update for yesterday and today.
Wont be able to update for a week as I am going to a workshop in the city for the next 5 days.. which means train leaves 7am and I dont get back home until 9pm, so going to be verrryyyy tired lol.. But should be good fun :) May have some oil paintings to show for it.

Skull studies, last 2 are from memory and some thumbnails that really didnt scan well.. oh well.

Two WIPs that I may or may not finish, an enviro from my head and a portrait study (I know the mouth is too small and the cheeks arent properly formed, but other than that crits would be appreciated (: )

Well that was an interesting week, made me so tired, those sort of hours are a pain. Learnt a bit, tried some oil painting etc, learnt more about colour theory. Nothing really to show for it, I'll be picking up the exercises I did next saturday as they were still wet with oil paint. But it was mostly theory so nothing really exciting to show.
All I have is my guerilla sketching from the train there and back every day, I think I see an improvement as the week progressed but maybe I'm just imagining it.
A portrait I did yesterday too, and an enviro trying to use photo textures, was a tad painful lol.

Okay, today I tried the cube exercise I hear about on an episode of awesome horse, adding shapes to a simple cube to see what I came up with, Ill do this again, hopefully a bit better and more complex.
An enviro built of lines, first time doing this too I think, this was fun, working with a perspective grid, need to practice my photoshop straight lines though =/
Study of a lizard skin as was prior suggested, this was a pain in the ass!
And I am starting to work through Doug Changs' Mechanika (I recommend this book to everyone) by copying his work and then applying it, hopefully I will have my one done today.

Started this weeks CHOW: Captain of the Guard. Was much better in my head, so i dont really like it... The thumb awasnt my favourite but it was the one that best fit the brief =/
More mechanika studies, again mine is definitely not terribly original >.>

Good to see someone else using Mechanika, totally love the book and Doug Chiang : )
Yeah I know, its amazing. I'm surprised I don't hear about it from more people, it really helps with mech design

Small Update today.

Very cool vehicles, the one with the single wheel and sor of arm going of the guy sits on is pretty awesome. A glance at your CHOW stuff look's like you could benefit from some anatomy studies, although they are just sketches. Nice work overall, you seem well motivated.
Hehe thanks Jonesoda :) Yeah I need more anatomy, gotta get stuck into that soon =/

Tried doing some gestures to warm up at work when i had some spare time, just 30 sec one, started focusing on economy of line, not sure how I did or if they are understandable, then I ran out of time at work to do thumbs -_-
And a enviro, about an hour, not really happy with it

2 portraits, about 2-3hrs each, first ones mask was a PITA so i sort of gave up, looks like ass.
Second one is a self portrait which probs could have been finished more, but I was sick at looking at myself for 3hrs -_-
And an waste factory enviro thingy.

Not heaps, couple of pages from my class but I cant get the camera to pick up the images properly so theres not really a lot of point in uploading the rest.
And a 20min still life of a nut I have on my desk.

Not alot, line based enviro, I have a failed master study sitting on my desk that isnt worth showing that was a time sink. And a failed experiment in oils so now im stuck with a garish orange background rose.. sigh.

Quick study, slowly colouring the enviro, and the thumbs for it that I forgot to upload before

Figure drawing update for the last few days, did some anatomy too, trying to work out how the muscles fit into and around the pelvis, dont know whether I got it right though =/. My first watercolour drawing, then some 1min 3 min, 10min and 30min figure drawings.

Oh, them studies comin along nice. Watch out with the gestures though. You should really be focusing on the pose instead of the exterior form body.

Here is an EXAMPLE
Remember to lay in the spine line first to capture the movement always. Study the example well, especially the one at the end; It will help tons in those quick gesture studies. Keep fightin the fight
Thanks Dennis! I will be sure to watch out for them in my next batch, you are right, I was too concerned with the clothes rather than the actual action. Thanks!
