I am Angbryn, welcome to my sketchbook thread.
Do not hesitate to C&C or give advice it would be much appreciated :)

Right now I am focusing on portrait studies (and face elements like eyes).

Here are the things I've been working on lately :

Nice studies. Looks like you are off to a good start.
few things i've noticed- 1. things are kinda mid-toned so push the contrast here and there. 2. the anatomy and forms are off. make sure to spend extra time on figuring out the under drawing to get the under laying forums looking right before jumping into rendering.

Now that I'm not working on this anymore I do indeed see anatomy problems. Thank you for pointing it out.
As for the contrast I know I have this problem but when I add more contrast something in my brain says "nooo it doesn't look right change it back". I try to fight against it but it's no easy x)
