Cool man, doin great! Keep it up with those face studies, they will pay off!

It's great to see you doing so many studies! I'd say that the values are a little all over the place at the moment - try breaking what you're seeing down into simpler, more abstract shapes first. Our brains tend to "autocorrect" value differences so you might think that certain areas are darker or lighter than they actually are if you're just comparing them to other areas of the image. Perhaps do a bunch of black and white studies, as well - eliminate the confusion of color.

hey Chris,
i like what you're doing, i think movie stills are a good way to go for a while, i have friends who try to do a small one daily. the one thing i'd suggest is perhaps more construction on the faces. be aware of construction / perspective lines on the face, throw a measurement here and there and i think you'll get better and better proportion control.
