RE: Bloodsports 5: Spirited Away - Cricketts - 02-06-2012

I really like the one with the house on the tilt. Really good work btw.

RE: Bloodsports 5: Spirited Away - jeremygordon89 - 02-06-2012

Looking great; I think it could do with some more saturation in some areas though. Looking forward to the final!

RE: Bloodsports 5: Spirited Away - Orsvend - 02-06-2012

THe whole image is very cool. I'd suggest a warm lightsource in the foreground to really make it pop! Love the tilted background and looking forward to see the finished one!

RE: Bloodsports 5: Spirited Away - bitbof - 02-07-2012

The tilted background is interesting but looks odd imo. Maybe giving her a pose that makes sense in relation to the background would help.

I think you're overdoing/misusing the black shadows(especially the shadow around the arm is insane). It makes the shapes fall apart and pulls me out. I'd say paint it a bit brighter and more realistic(where is the light source etc) and then decide on how dark it should be with some filters in the end.

The dragon looked more interesting before you redid the fur. I hope you figure out a way to draw really cool looking fur. Your entry would befit from it greatly.

It's neat how the title is on top of the fur.

Keep it up!

Awesome crit! Thank you. :D I'll change things up tonight.

Yeah I think I want to keep it looking more like scales than fur, but try an not have them so orange because he's meant to be white. Hmmm /:

RE: Bloodsports 5: Spirited Away - RachelCham - 02-07-2012

All I've got time for tonight :c

Tried to fix some of the issues you guys have pointed out. Hope it's looking a bit better!

I think her face is a bit pink now so I'll make it a bit creamier tomorrow and carry on with everything else.

RE: Bloodsports 5: Spirited Away - RachelCham - 02-08-2012

Can't stop changing the background. x_x But no more, it is what it is.

Some other little details added like the hair colour and tidying bits.

More tomorrow!

RE: Bloodsports 5: Spirited Away - RachelCham - 02-09-2012

More detailsss.

Getting a bit stuck on what else to add to it now so just spent some time making a mock DVD cover.

Let me know if you've got any suggestions as I'm so used to staring at it that I know there must be some stuff I've missed! (:

Just from a observing point of view, don't Chinese River Dragons have limbs? You could try a version that includes a limb :)

Hahha! I must say I'm loving the detail that's implied on your Dragon, he's gorgeous and keeps your eye moving around the picture :D

Thanks! I just realised he looks like the shape of a pretzel... Subliminal advertising.

RE: Bloodsports 5: Spirited Away - Tommy - 02-09-2012

- I'm finding the title hard to spot. It should jump off the cover/poster.

- The background building could use softer edges to push it back away from the focal point. Right now it feels like it's competing for attention.

- Look at some female arm reference (or yourself in the mirror) to push the arms to the next level of refinement. They're coming off as very cartoony without much anatomical structure - a stark contrast to her face.

- The tree on the right needs form. It's reading like a cardboard cut-out. I'd lose the thin brush strokes you've drawn on it and focus on big soft shapes.

- Overall you could hit a lot of areas with big soft brushes to lose the thin brush strokes. That kind of micro detail (hair and fur, or value scribbles) should be reserved for focal points and diminish in frequency and contrast as you move away from that point.

Hope you find that helpful. You're almost there, keep pushing!

I really love the atmosphere of this!
