RE: Fergus Russell's sketchbook - Crowbit - 03-31-2025 day 30 I can't wait to work on something for more than a day RE: Fergus Russell's sketchbook - Dominicque - 03-31-2025 (02-24-2025, 12:11 PM)Crowbit Wrote: @dominicque - your traditional work is looking great. I feel like I kinda cheese the painterly look. I use a lot of the soft round brush and then add texture in the much later stages to give a painterly style a lot of the time to be honest.Thanks. I'm sure this knowledge will come more in handy the more I become fluent with digital-based workflows. (03-19-2025, 09:36 AM)Crowbit Wrote: Big Kimo dumb plenty of days where i did very little. I've learned a tone of things from the younger generation that's left me quite windblown by The rendering on the last image is really reminding me of (a) certain artist(s), yet I just can't remember their name. Were you referencing a particular artists at the time? :) I assume Kimo must be some sort of art challenge? My, my you are machine! Did you really do one a day? ![]() RE: Fergus Russell's sketchbook - Crowbit - 03-31-2025 I'm not sure who that artist might be. I'm looking at a ton of random artists atm but the character is the OC of amerio if that rings a bell. I also look a lot at Mingchen Shen. KIMODAMESHI, or Kimo7, as it's called this year, is a month-long event that happens on Discord every year. The server only pops up for a month, but the premise is that you need to draw figures every day or you are kicked from the server. It's brutal but fun. highly recommend it for next year RE: Fergus Russell's sketchbook - Crowbit - 04-02-2025 fun one for the final night, did everyone's characters as teddys RE: Fergus Russell's sketchbook - darktiste - 04-03-2025 Just wanna say that having tried monthly challenge (inktober&swordtember)myself i admire your persistence but also the level of what you produced daily which i personally would say remain dynamic and pretty consistent in quality. RE: Fergus Russell's sketchbook - VitorCardoso - 04-03-2025 Really good stuff, keep it up! RE: Fergus Russell's sketchbook - Crowbit - 04-13-2025 @darktiste - Thank you Dark! ^-^ I really want to try Swordtember this year. I found Kimodamashi a lot easier as you work alongside others in Discord rather than alone. There's also the fear that if I miss a day, you're kicked from the challenge completely. @VitorCardoso - thank you as always (^-^) morning warm-up sketches while I've been working on my splash piece. Just keeping them fun. Met some new art buddies on discord and they have got me inspired to pump out way more art in my spare time RE: Fergus Russell's sketchbook - Crowbit - 04-14-2025 fish have nipples just a quick character design from a fish pic RE: Fergus Russell's sketchbook - cgmythology - 04-15-2025 Great to see updates from you. Loving the latest images, very solid figure work and anatomy as well. The skin tones in particular are also very well done with your human characters, the 'flesh' is very convincing. Keep it up! RE: Fergus Russell's sketchbook - Jephyr - 04-26-2025 Continue to love your figure work. Cat on the precious page is sooo good — as is fish guy and sitting down. Love that you put funny elements in your work as well. Makes it fun to check out what you've been up to. If I think of them, I'll note it down and let you know. I got a random company and then AOC, when I googled 'Amerio' (+art). ![]() Maybe once I figure out a fast digital workflow, I'll try it. I assume all media? Great work as usual- you are a DON at making your artwork look complete. And, I see we used the same reference. That Kevin Durand pic comin' in clutch for sitting poses with attitude. ![]() RE: Fergus Russell's sketchbook - Crowbit - 05-07-2025 You people are the BEST!!!! love your kind words ^^ @Dominicque - all medias are valid for Kimodamshi, but I've started to enjoy just trying to make everything just a little more finish looking where I can Here are some random ones. Doing a challenge again this time with workmates and also switching to Clip Studio over PH. tried a splash art but I just hate the comp so it's going here instead of the bin RE: Fergus Russell's sketchbook - Crowbit - 05-09-2025 this one came out bad! Who thought trying fish eye one 4 hours was a smart idea =.= RE: Fergus Russell's sketchbook - Jaye23 - 05-11-2025 Amazing work. Just all around very appealing cool style. Love your colors! RE: Fergus Russell's sketchbook - Crowbit - 05-12-2025 been struggin with the heat RE: Fergus Russell's sketchbook - Crowbit - 05-13-2025 more prompt sketches really struggling with Csp it just feels so odd to use but I will persist... hate that violin RE: Fergus Russell's sketchbook - darktiste - 05-13-2025 Hum akcutually this is not a violin due to the length of the ''neck'' or if you prefer where you grab the instrument. As a old violin player i think i have the right to ''educate'' If i was you i would have made him dual wield a pair of violin as to avoid that ''detail'' .Come on if your going to draw something that actually exist make a bit of research before specially if you make real world object. Sorry i choose violin to day. RE: Fergus Russell's sketchbook - TrashPanda - 05-14-2025 Really cool designs dude! The recent sketches remind me a bit of the work from Tatsuyuki Tanaka. He is the guy worked as animator for the OG akira film, maybe you already know him but if not you may like his work. Im also in the phase of switching over to CSP and I can definitely relate haha. RE: Fergus Russell's sketchbook - Crowbit - 05-14-2025 @Darktiste - your the second person to tell me this today (=.=) just squint real hard and pretend XD Can't say I was a fan of trying to draw it @TrashPanda - THANK YOU!!! ------- Never heard of this guy before but his work is insane this is 100% the work I want to vear towards. been looking a lot at Kei Urana.----- glad to know you also share my pain Today's theme was glow so did one of those cheesy glow-up drawings for fun ![]() RE: Fergus Russell's sketchbook - Crowbit - 05-16-2025 The daily prompt was dream so I chose the right idea of having a guy beat up by a magical girl. also ran a telephone game with a a friends over the last few months which was fun.
