Acceptable online portfolio sites - Simonarpalmer - 09-19-2012

Greetings Daggers!

I would like to hear what you people think are acceptable online services for displaying one's portfolio when contacting companies in search for work! Of course a personal website is best, but for those who, like myself, couldn't write HTML if our lives depended on it, there are some options such as blogspot etc.
I personally rule out sites which show other people's work too, such as deviantart or cghub etc, where the viewer could be distracted by superior artists work haha, but what do YOU think?

carbonmade is a decent option

or a separate blog with a single post and a nice skin

Hey thanks Sickbrush, carbonmade looks pretty cool. A lot of people seems to be doing a portfolio blog, I will probably go for that option myself too.

I got a server and installed wordpress on it, bought a theme and installed it. All I had to do was transfer files to my server and tweak some settings in the wordpress menu. Some money involved but not too much :) themeforest.com has loads of nice portfolio themes.

I like the portfolio blog. That seems smart, and looks really good too! :D

Cargo Collective is a good option. It's invite only sadly but you can pay for extra things like a .com site for 9.99USD a month.

Some website examples:

DevianArt offers a quite decent online portfolio option. You can create a pretty personal address name too. I'm happy with it and the presentation is nice. :)

I have two portfolios, one at deviantArt and one at carbonmade, both are fine, dA is somewhat restrictive in the design, carbonmade could have more options for displaying the art, but is faster to view, and with a bit html you can add your own CV to it (which dA can easily).
Blogs can be great too, the most guys I know upload sketches and wips there, which differs from the idea of a portfolio. Maybe both?
