RE: Sula's Sketchbook - Archreux - 08-07-2013

Your pencils are so clean and delicious, I can tell you definitely have a solid grasp on the medium. Inspirational pencils, actually, haha. That Loki drawing came out great! Your digital stuff has progressed quite a bit as well, these last few posts are looking up. :]

RE: Sula's Sketchbook - Wolkenfels - 08-07-2013

Keep fighting Sula - I love your lines so much!

RE: Sula's Sketchbook - Ursula Dorada - 08-08-2013

@Archreux: Thanks man <3 I really do love pencils, but I need to focus on painting. Its a nice stress reliever though :)
@Wolkenfels: <3 Thank you! Let's do this!

Man, this is hard.
I sort of feel like doing this until they get good I guess.

I hope they do at some point, you know.

RE: Sula's Sketchbook - Veneq - 08-08-2013

You and your pencils... make me feel like a bad, neglectful pencil owner.

Lovely updates ma'am.

RE: Sula's Sketchbook - Ursula Dorada - 08-09-2013

@Veneq: Haha man, you need to show love to them, they give back! Thanks :)

Today's
I had this feeling I could really fix some stuff than wen't bad yesterday, and it seems to have worked, yup. The color is still off - I has this feeling this over-saturated look is from bad retouch after scan. maybe not. I feel more comfortable with a bit more muted colors.
Anyway, feeling a bit better with this one:

RE: Sula's Sketchbook - brianjohnson - 08-09-2013

These are looking really nice. I need to try and find to do some of this kind of stuff.

RE: Sula's Sketchbook - Wolkenfels - 08-09-2013

you definitely hit the angles better in the new one. love this series.

RE: Sula's Sketchbook - Ursula Dorada - 08-11-2013

@Brian: Thanks! It kind of helps with faces. Going to do a few photo studies after this.
@Wolken: Thanks <3 Yup, trying to be really careful about those.

Today's
Leyendecker's boys don't give a shit about you peasants

RE: Sula's Sketchbook - zephyri - 08-11-2013

Hey Sula! Looking good with this latest batch of studies. One suggestion I might make, especialyl when looking at guys who painted like Leyendecker did, is try to figure out *how* they paint something. For example, I think you might have learned more, had you painted the hair like he did, with solid, form-following strokes over the pale underpainting, rather than relying on the ease of digital to put those gaps back in over the solid dark shape. Ultimately that should help you get more of a grip of painting form rather than just copying the 2D shapes onto your canvas and help you 'loosen up' with being bolder with your paint strokes. But the understanding is definitely growing!

RE: Sula's Sketchbook - Ursula Dorada - 08-12-2013

@Zephiry: yay! Thanks so much for the feedback. Going to do another one soon and take that into account :D
