RE: Monkeybread's Dribblings - Amit Dutta - 12-18-2016

haha, not quite like that view.

studies for client stuff

RE: Monkeybread's Dribblings - Fedodika - 12-18-2016

hey a great way to paint lizards is with like a gradient brush, kinda like the guy uses in this

RE: Monkeybread's Dribblings - Amit Dutta - 12-18-2016

Ah I think that's a drop shadow layer style applied to a paint layer. Yeah good idea I'll test it. I'm less after individual scale detail but might be very useful for some areas. Cheers

RE: Monkeybread's Dribblings - Amit Dutta - 12-18-2016

Testing stuff sketch. Getting some ideas on how to handle level of detail and scales/texture, but the wings are fucking horrible. More anatomy study necessary

RE: Monkeybread's Dribblings - neopatogen - 12-19-2016

The studies are awesome, I love the rendering style and colors! Would make another poster.

Except for anatomy, I like this vid on bat flight https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vq0rVBD9mDY
And the far hind leg looks weird if you imagine it attaching to the sacrum in perspective.

Although overall whole it looks cool even as it is now :) Somehow it appeals to me more than your recent finished and detailed environments.

RE: Monkeybread's Dribblings - walent - 12-19-2016

I agree with Neo, the back far leg isn't attaching to the pelvis, and even if would, the pelvis would be way too wide. I'm really curious to see the end result.

You know, I'll always appreciate the bravery some artists have by jumping into it and figuring out stuff on the go, while I'm always trying to perfect all the parts and details before even approaching the whole thing. F*ck that, I'm definitely trying some dragons this week.

RE: Monkeybread's Dribblings - Amit Dutta - 12-20-2016

Thanks Neo! I definitely prefer painting looser, and from scratch. I don't like any of the client enviros I've been shitting out of late. Thanks for the bat vid. Awesome ref!

Haha Vlad, I am all about jumping into shit and failing hard! Clients are basically paying me to fail :) Can't wait to see what you come up with! They really are fun to do.
Both of you are totally right on that rear leg!

A boring generic dragon sketch.  Gonna play with shape language more, but the description is of a pretty generic western dragon.

RE: Monkeybread's Dribblings - Fedodika - 12-21-2016

He looks like he needs a monocle and a cane saying mueheheheheheh!

RE: Monkeybread's Dribblings - Amit Dutta - 12-21-2016

window gazing 003
Love how different everything looks in different light, but it's pretty hard getting good form into a distant plein air view, so everything seems flat, because it mostly is to my eye. Might need to do these of the garden instead. It always seems to be a revelation to me how you really don't need high saturation to get vibrant colour.

Loving the dragon sketches Amit, how did you get the texture on your lizard studies?
