RE: DESQUOLOR's sketchbook -- journey to mastery - Fedodika - 06-26-2018

try to just do one good neck with good line weight and forms, take hours on it, that'll help more in the long run :)

lookin crisper with the lines for sure! Still would love to see your take on a longer back study even if it was just a 30 minute effort :)

RE: DESQUOLOR's sketchbook -- journey to mastery - DESQUOLOR - 07-03-2018

for you fed <3

RE: DESQUOLOR's sketchbook -- journey to mastery - Fedodika - 07-03-2018

interesting... It seems like your line drawing loses a lot of the forms when you go over to tone; Maybe try just using a multiply layer so the lines stay in place and you dont lose those nice forms by blending, leave the lines for a while in other words, but have tone on it anyways ;)

You can check your value with this simple trick if you use photoshop image)adjustement)desaturation
this will turn any colored artwork into a greyscale version of that image.

Like most people you don't punch your dark as much as they should the forehead of that man is also to bright.
No idea if you also aimed at nailing proportion but the head is larger than it should you can see it clearly if you compare the ear.

RE: DESQUOLOR's sketchbook -- journey to mastery - DESQUOLOR - 07-25-2018

@darktiste - 'ay, bro. much appreciated. i'll have to check my values more and push the darks for sure. thanks for the critique as always and of course, i'll try to be more diligent about measuring proportions in the underlay and comparing it to the original. :)

quick post before work. more scott roberson and application type stuff, but i definitely need to do much slower and methodical study approaches to his techniques to fully grasp the construction.

Nice construction studies bro. Keep at it!! :D You're making me want to focus more on construction.

So basicly your my inspiration to go back into construction while i was maybe the reason why you focused on construction so much.

Some good studies going on in here!

I wanted to drop a note also about some of these necks in the 3/4th view. Be careful with how far out you push things. The stylization might let you get away with it, but I threw in some 3D scanned head pics to show what I mean. Drawing through and constructing the underside of the chin and getting that distance right is also  something you might try for a while.

I think you should focus on the feature of the face and place them on a head construction with a centerline. It seem to be none existent in this sketchbook.

RE: DESQUOLOR's sketchbook -- journey to mastery - DESQUOLOR - 08-08-2018

@Thereisnojustice: thank you for the lovely critique. I have noted and am working to correct it. <33

@darktiste: thank you bro, I'm working on it now <3

Fear not a man that can draw a character fear a man that can draw one character as if it was made of glass.
