Vitor sketchbook - VitorCardoso - 11-09-2019

Hello, I'm starting this sketchbook because I need people to share experience, I think this is the best way to learn.

so I'll start by posting what I've been doing in recent months

Welcome! You seem to be on a good track.
What part of your drawings are from life, copy, memory and imagination?

RE: Vitor sketchbook - chubby_cat - 11-14-2019

Great start to your sketchbook. Something to watch for in the future is your sense of proportions - there's a lot of instances of overly long torsos, arms, legs, etc. A part from that, keep up the good work!

Someone's working hard!

Welcome to the Crimson Daggers!

here is a mix of both, I will try to specify what is in my imagination in my next posts

I still have difficulty with proportion, I think my perception is not good is something I need to improve

I haven't been practicing as much as I would like, but I still did some things.

here are some sketches and anatomy I did from imagination

RE: Vitor sketchbook - VitorCardoso - 01-27-2020

I am not posting as much as I would like, but I intend to have more frequency in my posts.

here's some michael hampton head construction studies and some construction study using the Glenn Vilppu approach of spherical forms

Nice sketchbook here dude :).

I like Hampton - the way he constructs musculature really appeals to me - I think you're on a good path with him. You Hampton gestures are looking lovely - one thing I found useful was to copy Hampton's gestures and then try them out on some different photo references.

Keep it going man - every little step makes a difference :).

more studies of gesture, structure and anatomy based on the Vilppu and Michael Hampton approach

I really like the Michael Hampton method of construction human body

Those gesture study are going to pay if you manage to incorporate what you learn into your imaginative work. But they require a good deal of understanding what is flexing and what is stretching if you can remember those two term you have already some way to talk to yourself. What i mean by that is that you will know that one part of the body is doing the flexing and an other is doing the streching. The next big thing is learning how the volume of muscke change as the muscles flex or strech.

gesture is one of the things I'm training a lot I will try to post more things of imagination in my next posts.

both Glenn Vilppu and Michael Hampton are always emphasizing shape change when stretching or flexing so it’s something I’m used to dealing with

Nice studies! I really like this one in particular, I like how you used the wrapping lines to indicate form around her stomach, and the gesture for the right leg looks great as well.

more studies on structure and gesture, here are some figures that I used spherical forms and box forms to create three-dimensionality and volume

RE: Vitor sketchbook - Artloader - 03-11-2020

Hey dude, I think your studies are looking really great, they show a beautiful appreciation of overlapping 3D forms with your use of wrapping lines.

If I may suggest, I think that you would benefit now from starting to think about light and shadow more. Start to sketch out the "bedbug" line that separates light and shadow.

Checkout these tonal studies by Hampton:

Hope this helps you, if not please ignore :).
