Where are all the inspiring real people nowadays? - lvlingArtist - 08-29-2025

Back in the day there was a kind of "real" youtube.
At least it seemed as if the people there were "real people".

On youtube there was, for example Sycra and he had Art-Streams with lots of cool people, who were Artists.
He made Interviews with good Professionals like Artgerm, Will Terrell and so on.

Then there were the Forums with hundreds of inspiring People with Sketchbooks.
Some professionals, some amateurs, some amateurs who were aspiring to become Professional.

There were so many inspiring People and Artworks to look at and get inspired by!

(this was not only in Art, but also in all other fields. If you like to cook, you could find an equally big cast of inspiring cooking channels and every other area probably too!)

Nowadays it seems, Youtube killed itself because censorship and so on.
Most videos are made either somehow by bots  or by production companies, who try to make it look like private people, but very poorly. They all use the same script, it looks like. If you see a cat moving into the scenery you already can tell, that these people have been told by some marketing-Agency that they should put a cat in there to look more like private people.

The so-called "social media" I do not use, because they tighten the censorship-grip so heavily and it feels like a complete empty echo-chamber. I am talking about Instagram and such nonsense.

Forums somehow died, even if they were awesome.
Sycra also had an amazing forum back in the day with SO good people, so inspiring!
Nowadays he moved to the so-called "Discord-Server",
but first of all I see that as another censorship-vehicle-thing and also you cannot see any Sketchbooks of people there!

Where are all those amazing, inspiring People nowadays?

Youtube is dead, Forums somehow vanished, and "social media" is censored and unreal and turns you into a zombie.

Do you also feel that the world somehow got very empty nowadays?

The real people are out there in the real world. They mostly move to other format then forum sketchbook to create the illusion of perfect art. The instagramification of content as made it more competitive so people spend less time posting content more time curating content.

Also there is the explosion of online art education that as totally almost made it ridicule to wait for forum feedback when you can't have professional feedback on livestream. Sure not everyone want to be professional but it as certainly made it weird to wait for answers when there content already availble if you know where to look at. We ain't even talking about Ai learning yet...

Human interaction is reduce simply because education as become availble and monetized to a higher degree.Instead of interacting to learn. We consume media to learn because it didn't exist in such a availble state before.

When only a few had monopoly on information at that time they could create there own community and that information would then spread across other community where different influence would converge to create richer community. Due to the high cost of art education at that time only a certain group could rise above the mass.

It not that those people aren't amazing anymore it the nature of the internet and social make up that as change.Youtube was still young and worth investing for for the young creator it was it golden era to build an audience.

Youtube is oversaturated. Forum have mostly been replace by space where the interaction is surface level when they move into discord they have become more like other social media less about the individual and more about the content (talking about discord here) the moving away from individual to content as create a disconnect between the art and the artist.

It not a empty word it a world where you are around shadow figure with no certainty of being in the presence of indiviual so rather then to waste time talking with what perceive as a bot you don't and you go on discord to speak to a human or atleast atm it seem...
