well im not totally fuckin aware of how some of my gesture stuff flattens out. This reclining pose, the more shaded one: i had a blast with, totally was focused on it for the ten minutes i drew it for. Kept redrawing the back and the pelvis trying to turn it more to show the form, since the reference had almost a graphic read, was quite interesting. And yea i see how that calve coming out is totally flat by comparison.
Drawing those little wrapping lines really helps show how something is moving in space, I always thought it was a sort of decorative thing, but it could help me "think" more about how to show things turning, which adds so much to a drawing. Also if you have any crits of my piece above on like the pose or something or like maybe something looks weird i'd love to know because those little things can sometimes ruin a whole piece for someone!
The things i have concerns on it are the arm going behind the back, it seems fine in the reference, but i'm wondering if i should push the other one out to hold the skirt, or if it would make any difference. Also if the chick holding the tree, if I should draw some of her hand holding the tree or if that would be too long for her arms to reach behind the other girls head.
