This ↑ was my first time playing with the filters in CSP, you can see how I got excited with the blurring and warping! It is a pretty simple drawing, part of my process here was forcing myself to let go and make haste!


There were several effects I had set out to implement in this image that fell flat! At some point I gave up on logic and started doing stuff cause it looked cool. Initially I intended to have this midair fiend backlit by the full moon with all the dramatic contrast that composition demands, but then I thought to add a diffused underlight akin to trail cam footage. Unfortunately I was too married to my nice line work and form to really follow through with these ideas and so it ended up caught in this uncanny in-between place where the light is nonsensical and the rendering on the body looks more like an infra-red heat map. I can't explain the colour choices, I think I mostly harvested them from the posterized clouds I foraged from google. I still like this drawing, as strange as it is.

I'd call my skill level intermediate; I feel held back by my own shortcomings in completing every picture I make, but I still like the outcomes! At the moment I am trying to enhance my art rendering and finishing skills, and to improve consistency and likeness for humanish muses (and learn how to draw clothes...). Eventually I'd like to make comics and animations!

Attached is a silly image of my persona and a terrible pun that I made for this little introduction post, expect to see more of her as I begin accreting a backlog of my work in a sketchbook thread soon!

also, VHS tapes. i like making weird kinda sorta surrealist stuff but ''VHS filters'' on editing programs are usually pretty obvious so i figure ''why not just use the real thing?'' now that i have a VCR that i got from my gammy which i think can play VHS tapes?? idk, i grew up with blu-ray, i just like the little visual effects that VHS tapes create. it feels like looking at a memory in a way that i don't really see with newer recording stuff.

i also have all of my deltarune plushies that i don't currently have on my list. i'm trying to collect them all, since if and when i do lose interest in the game i would like to give them all away so that people who couldn't afford them otherwise can have them. also because, y'know, having collections is nice and i like doing that. i collect coffee mugs too




until then, i have halloween to look forward to. i was wanting to make an opossum mask styled after those ''showbiz'' animatronics for my costume with a tail & everything, but i've probably run out of time to do that by now so i guess i'm going without a costume yet again. aghhg.]]>

First up, this drawing I made of (oh god, it's this guy) back in june. I say (oh god, it's this guy) not because i dislike the character, but because i happen to have a special interest on this guy, STILL ONGOING???, lasting FIVE YEARS>??? i wasn't even this obsessed with my little pony when i was a toddler, what the hell!! anyway...yeah, my first drawing of ''spamton'' was from all the way back in may of 2023, the biggest difference between how i drew him now vs how i drew him then (old art here for reference,) is that now i seem to really like drawing him as a barely comprehensible being. it IS fun to draw him that way, though, so i understand myself. haha i'm drawing him right now and making use of the flipaclip ''blur and smudge'' tools to make him look all melty and distorted hopefully i'll finish it and i can share it here

I also have this, concept art for two main characters for a webseries I want to make/was working on earlier this year (i didn't draw their hands because i didn't feel like it, you get the idea) The art is meant to be drawn in a very amateur way on purpose, since I think it would help with the strange/off kilter kind of feel that i'd wanna go with for the thing. I was inspired by old flash animations and the recent resurgence of them as a tool to create unnerving/horror animations (this project would not be horror though) More art from the almost finished but incomplete ''pilot'' here and here.
What it WOULD be...is basically a slice of life kind of series taking place at the end of our world, following the aftermath of a ''man made'' rapture event, where the only two human characters we see are ''dante'' and a currently unnamed character. Both characters would have different mindsets and ways of approaching their situation, with dante being an atheist, and the unnamed character being a potestant christian (the religion i was raised in before leaving.) i chose to have that as a dynamic between the two characters because i think it could be interesting given the context of the shows setting. Some other information about the characters is that dante is supposed to work as ''the weatherman,'' while the unnamed character has a pet cat named ''lucy.'' i want both of these to be important somehow but not sure how, i do find it interesting how dante mentions cats in their dialogue during the pilot though, so maybe...............

Anyway, I haven't posted any of my art or edits yet, but (if) and when I do, expect inconsistency in quality and in my ''art style'' that I don't really have, I've tried to stick to just one way of drawing and it doesn't work for me lol I get bored
Also, some of my art, especially my edits may dip into absurdist ''horror(?)'' territory so I'll probably be posting those with a link instead of an image & be giving a heads up for those. Most of my art is just character doodles though

I also make music! not super often, but it's something I do. I have my soundcloud linked under my profile so that y'all can check it out along with my art & stuff if you want. feel free to download and remix any of it, btw, I wanna see what you can do and I really like seeing people use or get inspired by my stuff

also, uh, sorry in advance for my potential obnoxiousness, i was never really around for the early internet where forums were more commonplace so I don't have a very great grasp of the kind of 'culture' around here? and you'll probably be able to tell that I'm pretty (young, but i am pretty too, lol) if not for the fact that i have my age listed here then probably from the (everything else, gesturing broadly)

I'm joining this forum because I think this may be better for my mental health than the modern ''social media'' kind of places on the internet. also can i change the website theme for myself somehow?? The current theme is kinda making me have to squint a lot, I mean, I should probably be wearing my astigmatism glasses but the last time I did I got sad and cried and now I'm scared to put them back on because I worry that they may be cursed based on that happening a total of once. normal stuff, you get it]]> Blepleb

I don't really remember where exactly I learned about the Crimson Dagger Forums, but I saw some users that were from the old CGTalk Forums, that's probably where it came from... I don't know. 

The truth is that I always wanted to be an artist, but life got in the way and I became an Accountant, then a Programmer and soon I'll be a Data Scientist without ever being able to become a true artist.

My desire to become capable of translating my ideas into drawings came from early childhood. I had a grandfather who was some sort of genius, a self-taught artist who could draw awesome stuff from imagination during times when references weren't easily available as they are nowadays. It's a shame that we didn't kept a single one of his works, he made it look like it was easy, but after many attempts from my side, I know what he did was different. There was no construction whatsoever, it was pure delineation, and trying to mimic the way he did it cost me a long time and caused a lot of frustration...

Then came the color-blindness diagnosis, it was one of or THE final blow to my dream of ever becoming an artist, that means I would never be able to communicate my feelings to an audience trough colors, because I'm simply unable to see the same colors as them. That's kind of true, but there's studies that says that different people see different colors, depending whether you have a word for such color or not, if you're male or female, if your mental health is in good state or even if you've been blessed with Tetrachromacy... 

Now all creative professionals are facing the absurdity of AI, and I'm sure the artist community have been hit hard, but I wasn't following, all I remember was the protest on ArtStation with all artists posting the same image of "No image" or something like that on ArtStation... I personally don't care if a machine is going to steal my work, I'm so rusty that I'll have to start it over, and for a while it should probably suck real bad, probably I'll make the models worse.

In fact, what the f* happened?
I stopped studying CG to focus on my career as a programmer (I changed careers around 2018), and many artist communities simply disappeared, I feel like a homeless person now...

Well, at least this time I'm able to properly communicate, I hope I can make some friends while getting better as an artist, that's all that there is for me at this point and for a change, this time it seems enough.]]>

I've been lurking this forum for years but I'm finally here to share and learn. I've been absent from art for a really, really long due to depression, anxiety, and severe OCD but I'm well enough to get back into it now. I've been wanting to start my own sketchbook thread since forever-ago but blahblah the second best time is now and whatnot.
