First up, this drawing I made of (oh god, it's this guy) back in june. I say (oh god, it's this guy) not because i dislike the character, but because i happen to have a special interest on this guy, STILL ONGOING???, lasting FIVE YEARS>??? i wasn't even this obsessed with my little pony when i was a toddler, what the hell!! anyway...yeah, my first drawing of ''spamton'' was from all the way back in may of 2023, the biggest difference between how i drew him now vs how i drew him then (old art here for reference,) is that now i seem to really like drawing him as a barely comprehensible being. it IS fun to draw him that way, though, so i understand myself. haha i'm drawing him right now and making use of the flipaclip ''blur and smudge'' tools to make him look all melty and distorted hopefully i'll finish it and i can share it here


I also have this, concept art for two main characters for a webseries I want to make/was working on earlier this year (i didn't draw their hands because i didn't feel like it, you get the idea) The art is meant to be drawn in a very amateur way on purpose, since I think it would help with the strange/off kilter kind of feel that i'd wanna go with for the thing. I was inspired by old flash animations and the recent resurgence of them as a tool to create unnerving/horror animations (this project would not be horror though) More art from the almost finished but incomplete ''pilot'' here and here.
What it WOULD be...is basically a slice of life kind of series taking place at the end of our world, following the aftermath of a ''man made'' rapture event, where the only two human characters we see are ''dante'' and a currently unnamed character. Both characters would have different mindsets and ways of approaching their situation, with dante being an atheist, and the unnamed character being a potestant christian (the religion i was raised in before leaving.) i chose to have that as a dynamic between the two characters because i think it could be interesting given the context of the shows setting. Some other information about the characters is that dante is supposed to work as ''the weatherman,'' while the unnamed character has a pet cat named ''lucy.'' i want both of these to be important somehow but not sure how, i do find it interesting how dante mentions cats in their dialogue during the pilot though, so maybe...............

Anyway, I haven't posted any of my art or edits yet, but (if) and when I do, expect inconsistency in quality and in my ''art style'' that I don't really have, I've tried to stick to just one way of drawing and it doesn't work for me lol I get bored
Also, some of my art, especially my edits may dip into absurdist ''horror(?)'' territory so I'll probably be posting those with a link instead of an image & be giving a heads up for those. Most of my art is just character doodles though

I also make music! not super often, but it's something I do. I have my soundcloud linked under my profile so that y'all can check it out along with my art & stuff if you want. feel free to download and remix any of it, btw, I wanna see what you can do and I really like seeing people use or get inspired by my stuff

also, uh, sorry in advance for my potential obnoxiousness, i was never really around for the early internet where forums were more commonplace so I don't have a very great grasp of the kind of 'culture' around here? and you'll probably be able to tell that I'm pretty (young, but i am pretty too, lol) if not for the fact that i have my age listed here then probably from the (everything else, gesturing broadly)

I'm joining this forum because I think this may be better for my mental health than the modern ''social media'' kind of places on the internet. also can i change the website theme for myself somehow?? The current theme is kinda making me have to squint a lot, I mean, I should probably be wearing my astigmatism glasses but the last time I did I got sad and cried and now I'm scared to put them back on because I worry that they may be cursed based on that happening a total of once. normal stuff, you get it]]> Blepleb

You might know The Skillful Huntsman book: three Art Center students (Khang Le, Mike Yamada, Felix Yoon) visually developing a Brothers Grimm tale under Scott Robertson. I'm running an open, community version of that exploration, with two more stories added:

- The Skillful Huntsman (Brothers Grimm), the tale Scott Robertson's Art Center students developed in The Skillful Huntsman book
- Journey to the West (Sun Wukong's long pilgrimage)
- The Road to El Dorado (a road to a city of gold)

Pick one or mash them up. Characters, environments, props, vehicles, keyframes, costume studies, theme, style, genre, or plain self-expression. Any skill level, studies or finished pieces. No deadline. Not a contest.

Why a group (this group): Daggers has always run on one idea: if the thing you want doesn't exist, make it. The bloodsports showed that a shared brief builds portfolios, and a big shared body of work gets seen, written about, and shown in ways one sketchbook rarely does. (The last one, Endless Summer / Perfect Pitch, is where Jacob Janerka's Paradigm started.) Also, I miss og forum groups and i resonate with this forum site specifically lol

Side note: I'm pairing some of my own physical pieces and other “expressions” of this project (physical knick knacks and other “subjective instances” of this viz dev project…viz dev *meditation*) with an NFT eventually. They will be used the way the tech was initially conceptualized, as a certificate of authenticity…but with a huge improvement: real money inside, *and giving them away*.

That's *my* project, not a requirement for anyone. 
Of course, your art stays yours. Nothing you post gets minted, sold, or used without your say. There's nothing to buy, and I will never ask anyone for a wallet, a recovery phrase, a signature, or money.

I don't really remember where exactly I learned about the Crimson Dagger Forums, but I saw some users that were from the old CGTalk Forums, that's probably where it came from... I don't know. 

The truth is that I always wanted to be an artist, but life got in the way and I became an Accountant, then a Programmer and soon I'll be a Data Scientist without ever being able to become a true artist.

My desire to become capable of translating my ideas into drawings came from early childhood. I had a grandfather who was some sort of genius, a self-taught artist who could draw awesome stuff from imagination during times when references weren't easily available as they are nowadays. It's a shame that we didn't kept a single one of his works, he made it look like it was easy, but after many attempts from my side, I know what he did was different. There was no construction whatsoever, it was pure delineation, and trying to mimic the way he did it cost me a long time and caused a lot of frustration...

Then came the color-blindness diagnosis, it was one of or THE final blow to my dream of ever becoming an artist, that means I would never be able to communicate my feelings to an audience trough colors, because I'm simply unable to see the same colors as them. That's kind of true, but there's studies that says that different people see different colors, depending whether you have a word for such color or not, if you're male or female, if your mental health is in good state or even if you've been blessed with Tetrachromacy... 

Now all creative professionals are facing the absurdity of AI, and I'm sure the artist community have been hit hard, but I wasn't following, all I remember was the protest on ArtStation with all artists posting the same image of "No image" or something like that on ArtStation... I personally don't care if a machine is going to steal my work, I'm so rusty that I'll have to start it over, and for a while it should probably suck real bad, probably I'll make the models worse.

In fact, what the f* happened?
I stopped studying CG to focus on my career as a programmer (I changed careers around 2018), and many artist communities simply disappeared, I feel like a homeless person now...

Well, at least this time I'm able to properly communicate, I hope I can make some friends while getting better as an artist, that's all that there is for me at this point and for a change, this time it seems enough.]]>
