Seeking a Study Partner

I've been progressing on my own for a while, but I was thinking it'd be a good idea to have a partner, because with just me, I give myself too many 'outs,' and I don't feel like it's super important to hold to my schedule. I know this is harmful and I want to curb that behavior, and I'm tired of crawling up this plateau. It's time to really go!

My goal right now is to get good enough and build a good enough portfolio to get paying jobs- by 'good enough,' I mean to a quality where I can start having people want me working for them, and actually starting to make money off of this. For a long term goal, I want to be able to sustain myself on only an art income. I think the jobs I'd like to do right now are card art, character commissions, and comic books.

My time zone is PST ( It's about 6:15 as I post this), and I study from 11:30 am-1:30 pm, and again at 11:00 pm to 1:00 am.
i also do 6 hours of personal work and 6 hours of client work each day, so I really try to burn the studies into my head by applying the knowledge from them.

hey guys looking for a partner or 2 even maybe a small group .... at the moment Im trying to push my character design skills so mainly looking to learn anatomy, clothing/armour and master studies/ gestures like Frazetta

I just love character design artist so many good artists out there.... so Im trying to tackle one of my weaknesses which I know will be a long journey.... So who wants in on this journey?

Im not really into group sessions or watching people draw so discord and the like Im not really interested in.... Im more into a study plan, have a day or two to complete, compare work and give critique.... so you have to be very self motivated also I know these type of groups usually peter out after a few of weeks so working hard out, giving it your all is a must or whats the point.

Im willing to set a plan and give some mentorship just to get us started, I would also love some ideas that you may have that could help/work etc, we could maybe post our studies here?...

Hi All,

I've been on and off this forum so many times but keep coming back to draw and post my work. Really like the environment of this place, great people with a lot of talent.

I am studying the figure right now, and painting skin textures in a realistic/semi-realistic way. Does anyone have the same style and want to screenshare and study with me?
We can critique each other's work and share study materials.

I am available 6pm-9pm CST weekdays, and even more on the weekends.

Users of other programs are welcome, just thought it would be easier to share techniques if we're both using photoshop.

Please let me know what platform you want to use.

It also doesn't have to be all studies either, we can also do fun pieces/full paintings.

Hi my name is Jimmy i am currently 26 years old.

I choose to come to crimson daggers to sharpen my knowledge and to learn from other people.I am seeking challenge and partner or mentor or just a comment.

Approch:I work with pencil and pen and marker.I also sometime use photoshop and illustrator
Goal:Concept artist oriented creature design
Thing I like to draw:Character,monster,fantasy,sci-fi,super hero,horror,dark,skull,pin-up,video game fan art

My experience with art:
From an early age like everybody i was initiate to the pleasure of drawing.As years pass my motivation for school was never really there i sure did love learning but i was never really happy to be force feed it.The subject were too blend to digest and my concentration was little. Fortunate for me i was aware that i was more interest in drawing in my class than the actual class. Somehow i manage to finish highschool and get my diploma.After graduating i was in the dark but i was sure that i wanted to remain happy.Pretty sure still to this day that i want to avoid going back to school as i find the academic aspect of life to be too rigid and devoid of the energy i am striving for.What i am striving for you might ask to be able to find the right environement to grow as an artist.

I also had the chance of taking a few private art course.
I took 3 class so far at syn studio here the title of the course i took and a brief summary of what fundamental was part of the course

DRAWING FROM LIFE-this course teach me about light, shade, line and form, perspective and proportion. Subjects include still life, nature, portraits and nudes using live models.
ANALYTICAL SKETCHING-this course teach me a step-by-step method to break down any object or living being into basic shapes and build up a drawing with proper perspective and shading so you can literally draw anything, from any angle!
ANIMAL DRAWING-this course teach me how to approch creating my own creature base on the study of animal such as cat,dog,fish,bird and dinosaur.I had the chance to draw live animal

I am currently looking for someone that could benefit from sharing some of there time so that we can learn to be stronger artist.

Please help me. Because I don't have many art friends in real life and because I fallen so badly in my art skills it looks like now I never even attended any art school at all and whatever I learned there is all gone. This spirals me in a loop, where I try to draw, get depressed, then don't draw, which makes me get worse, then finally start back drawing again, dislike my work even more, stop drawing again... I miss my art classmates and i think having professors and a regular schedule helped motivate me to not just do more with my art but just my life and health period. I would appreciate anyone who will help me get back on my feet/critique me honestly and effectively and give me ideas for drawing anywhere from once a night to at least twice a month, I will try to do the same.

Hey guys.

Who I am:
I'm Miguel, I'm 27 years old (say hi to the dinosaur, kids), I've been working with digital since I was 14 and went to high school for multimedia design. I graduated last year from art and design college as well and now I've spent the last year refining the fundamentals of art.

What I'm pursuing:
What I'm looking for is to build a entry level portfolio for concept art, after having done some graphic design for several companies along the years, I decided that working for concept art studios was the thing I enjoyed to work on the most.
I'm looking for a partner who I can team up with and give and receive critique/paintovers/notes/advice about our on going projects, if you'd like to collaborate, that'd be fine too, I've had only good experiences doing that.
I'm active on GMT timezone, I've recently taken a one week break to find my voice again, I feel my designs are too stiff, and I'm making a new schedule somewhere in between 6 to 10 hours a day soon.

I used to be very raw, fast and bold with my graphic design and I'm hoping to get that 'punk rock' way to design into concept art, now that the fundamentals are kinda out of the way and good enough (fundamentals are never mastered anyway)

My past studying schedules:
I've worked for 9 hours a day on projects +2 hours of studies from life, photos and master copies, + 2 hours from books and tutorials. ~ After three months, my head was entering into a pinball tilt, I found that I improved a lot but I was too tired.

I've done another schedule for 6 hours a day + 2 of tutorials/books but I found it was too relaxing.

Seeking an experienced perspective & environment partner

Hello!

I am a more character/figure focused artist, but I really want to learn to create compelling environment scenes, since they can convey more than any freestanding character alone!

I have tried to learn to draw environments a few times, but the concepts have never stuck well with me. I've even taken a few classes, and produced my most embarrassingly bad work! Trying to teach myself in a void, I keep getting lost in bad habits, and a lack of knowledge/taste. I have a lot of trouble taking a piece from perspective lines or concept to a completed piece and fail to make anything coherent. I really need help!

All of my artistic friends in the past have been character-focused like me, and equally unable to draw good backgrounds. I really think a bounce board of someone knowledgeable about something you're trying to learn is extremely helpful, so I'd really love to make a perspective & environment-focused friend.

My goals lie somewhere between Barry Jackson's work in Cool World (link) and Paul Felix's work in Lilo and Stitch (link). I'm a big fan of 3 pt perspective drawings and really want to learn to do them well some day!

A little bit about what you can expect from me:
I'm pretty well-versed in sketch art, drawing characters & figures from imagination, rendering/drawing a form in an appealing and descriptive fashion. You can check out my personal selections of my favorite work (here). I love cartoons, humor, and art that is especially descriptive over art that is loose and messy. I have heard from most people that I am a good and descriptive critic, so if you feel I could give you valuable feedback on your work as well as you to mine, I'd love if we could partner up!

I'm on Discord as Vicianus #4863. I live in Arizona (MST) and tend to be online to chat more between 8 AM and 5 PM (intermittently between 5 PM and 8 PM, and sometimes later in the night depending on what's going on around me.)

Accountability Experiment for 7 Days. Who is interested?

Alright I noticed, the art learning process is more fun/entertaining to do when you have other like-minded individual/individuals to paint with. So I want to start a 7 days accountability experiment.

How will this be done ?
We paint on google hangout (can be either voice or no voice, I do not mind. But for voice best use discord) and then we share at the end of the day what we learned per say. So an exchange of notes if studies is what we did, or merely what we working on either of the two is fine.

The other option we can do is do a book together, on hangout, and try to understand each part by exchanging information, and we stick to the same pages per meetings. So if we gotten to page 10, we will stay at 10, till the next appointment.

All of this works best if someone is in the same timezone, or paints in similar time. My timezone is EST.

What works for me, right now is :
6 or 7 to 10 PM due that I wake up at 5 AM, and design for at least 4 to 8 hours for my Creativemarket shop. Trying to make that into a reality.

But changes can be made for this kind of experimentation. Since during the afternoon, I do not do a whole lot things due of the heat, unless I am doing something interesting.

Hey guys, I haven't been posting too much here for the past few months, and that's because I've been in quite the art slump this summer. So I thought I'd maybe team up with someone to chat with, exchange artwork, and critique each other.

Hi,
My name's David i'm an aspiring illustrator/concept artists based in the UK. I've been seriously drawing for 3 years and now plan to "cut through the crap" and get a job asap. Presently i have plenty of free time and will continue to do so for a few months due to the summer holidays. Another important note is that i have 'very' limited social life which i will use to my advantage. All in all i'm looking for someone that's in a similar situation as i am and perhaps most importantly someone that has a strong work ethic and is dedicated.

I consider myself an intermediate level artist and even though i feel your level shouldn't matter it is preferable if you've been doing art for some time. As i said though the most important attribute is dedication and work ethic. Also i'll be willing to give advice too if needed.

i'm am aiming to do 7 hours a day. 7 hours of study and portfolio work. i have done these hours easy before, but now currently i'm struggling to do even do 2 hours. i really wanna get good and have an art job.

I'm no stranger to weird schedules and can adapt to a different time zone if needed. As i said i have done the whole going-all-hardcore thing in the past.

I'm not expecting a ton of replies but please don't hesitate to send me a message even if the time stamp of this post is over year old :). knowing my self i'm pretty sure i'll still be looking.
