--as in 2 fan art compared to 28 others not fan art
02 May 19:59
--oh no exactly, this will be the second of about 30 paintings on da which will be fan art if i do another. and ill make sure its decent quality and of something with a bit of hype going around, and that i'd love painting
02 May 19:58
--If you want to do it, do it... who knows what could happen, maybe you're right. Just make sure to balance out the fan art with your own ideas... or else you might become known as "the fanart guy".
02 May 19:55
--yeh but looking at it, if i got say, 150 faves on dA from my first halo piece when i was an utter rookie, maybe i cant get 250 now (not that it matters) but from that, maybe 20 new watchers, then after that i may get more faves, more watchers as people see my art in other peoples fave gallery etc. basically i wanna get a bit of a snowbal going so by the time im pro i have a huge audience
02 May 19:52
--His art was already pro by that time though, I feel like if you are going to do that you have to blow people away in the first go... Like Rapoza did.
02 May 19:47
--well what about dave rapozas tmnt fanart his career skyrocketed from those pieces
02 May 18:22
--Isn't the goal to make your art stand out by itself? Without having to have a well known IP behind it?... Unless you really enjoy doing fan art, I wouldn't go for that idea.
02 May 17:36
--hmm what do you guys think about doing fan art mainly to attract an audience and get some exposure? just because i realised that my most popular piece was the first digital piece i ever did on dA, because it was a crappy Halo ODST illustration and people ate it up...
02 May 14:00
--the idea is that less color means you can focus more attention on composition and light, it doesn't have to be b/w
02 May 13:40
--i gots a question about doing film composition studies, do i have to do them only in B&W?
02 May 11:50
--i didnt take it as gossip lol. i creep here alot but i always come hours after the conversation has ended
02 May 11:50
--Anyone want to do a group study? https://plus.google.com/hangouts/_/event...0&hl=en-GB

--fsg: that's good news! You got work! If you worry about the legal part, hmm, make a disposable Society 6 account. Y'know, like disposable cellphone.
02 May 09:13
--i plan to sell prints on society6 and sell bigger higher quality prints at cons maybe? im still trying to figure it out
02 May 09:04
--right now for personal stuff im doing a bunch of "fanboy" illustrations ive been wanting to do forever like a DBZ one in my style and a Shigiru Miyamoto / mario fan art. Im painting alot of the mario characters in the illustration with miyamotos face on all of them. im wondering is it even legal for me to put miyamoto in a princess peach outfit and try to sell prints of it lol
02 May 09:00
--i meant @gliger but yeah anytime i have goes to the freelance or other things im working on to get my name out there
02 May 08:57

--I remember the good ole days when it wasn't just about commerical crap or at least they hid it better. Thankfully this forum has stayed true to its roots although it's slacked on challenges.
