--Well I should say thousands of years...rather than a specific figure lol. But this just teaches me never to pooh pooh anything out of hand just because it isn't modern or "scientific" And I used to be a hardcore rationalist science type

--yes please. thats the kinda stuff i will quote while drunk and never be able to explain properly. i pride myself on being very philosophically informed when drunk , its one of my redeeming traits.

--It blows my mind to think a 2000 year old explanation is being corroborated in scientific ways (still far from it)
27 Apr 09:29
--Actually I found a good YT vid that explains the parallels quite well I thought. Will try and find it. Also there are a few books written by physicists who specifically look at the similarities
27 Apr 09:27
--one example is the concept of the quantum field, where matter is all basically probability waves in a constantly fluctuating field of quantum probability, and the we are all one, and connected and arise from the same "stuff" principle.
27 Apr 09:26
--one thing i found incredible is that how it becomes progressivley harder to predict what sub atomic particles will do the more we obvserve them, thus making it impossibel to predict the future from atom interaction
27 Apr 09:24
--Having done Physics, the thing I find exceedingly interesting is that buddhist and taoist concepts align with a lot of the behaviours and theories of the fundamentals of physical reality brought up by physics
27 Apr 09:24
--i heard something about that, really interesting, though if the universe is a game, it means that we are all NPCs?
27 Apr 09:23
--as things get closer to an event horizon apparently they kinda become 2d, and somehow they are testing if this is being used to make our entire universe into a 2d projection into 3d
27 Apr 09:22
--oh just to throw it in there, they are currently testing whether we are all a 2d hologram made by a supersentient race such as ourselves in the future
27 Apr 09:22
--he compared people with hedgedogs on the snow, if they get too closer they get hurt but if they get separated they would die
27 Apr 09:21
--definitely, well i dont find Kierkegaard that interesting since he was a christian existentialist
27 Apr 09:20
--now what we were talking about the ego, reminded me of Kierkegaard and the Hedgedog dilemma Wardy
27 Apr 09:19
--Yeah I like Zarathustra, but it was so convoluted it requires so much rereading. Definitely some interesting stuff in there
27 Apr 09:19
--nietzsche? will have to look him up. yeh watts was the same in some ways ,commited suicide essentially from escapist drugs (cigarettes and alcohol). interesting how great minds bear huge burdens.
27 Apr 09:18
--too bad he lost his mind and started to say some really stupid shit towards the end of his life
