--There's just not enough time to properly introduce them. I liked the movie ok but didn't really follow it, then saw the series and loved the movie years later.

--If the movie had been successful, more opportunities could have opened up. But despite it having great reviews and a high rating, not enough people saw it. It's a cult tv show, and will probably get a reboot 10-15 years down the line.
