--that is not as much as a rule, actually. Have you tried doing studies from life/photos? They really help

--also i use complementary colors for shadows , for example, if the face has a pinkish tone i use a bluish color for shadows am i doing it right?

--i really find color a problem , i feel confident about my values greyscale but whenever i go to color i find myself picking so many colors in result having a portrait with rainbow colors
