yeah, you can do those for sure too . But, maybe the challenges just need a hard reset. Those that are new can ease there way into things. I see what you mean though.

Exactly applying the craft is key. technical understanding of interfaces doesn't take long to master and it becomes easier to get faimiliar with new packages the more you do this.

bloodsports may not be coming back anytime soon, but check out a cool community challenge over here that some awesome people took the initiative to create! www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fcrimsondaggers.com%2Fforum%2Fthread-4845.html&h=YAQGK4sRf

nah, in theory, learning the tool is easier than learning the craft itself. Some of the knowledge will apply to all tools.

Nous: that's a lot of softwares you've learned? Don't it take all your waking life to learn all them?

06 Mar 08:38

oh ICE does some really cool stuff that I've seen both online and in what other classmates did... it's a real pity

06 Mar 08:29

You basically use and learn what you must for a particular project. Being good in one 3d prog will stand to you for the rest. Now Robertson has me all curious about modo's replicators...but the same can be achieved in other progs' particle nodes.

06 Mar 08:27

Nous

Plus a host more. But yes I'll miss softimage i was looking forward to using that for it's ice node systems.

I mean I've gone through lightwave, c4d, maya, max(my favorite although it can get slow) and now I have to learn blender and apply the fundementals I've learned previously to that one

06 Mar 08:25

In this world you need to be good across multiple 3d programs if you're doing company work.

06 Mar 07:36

Gliger

That's one of the reasons why workshops and schools with working professionals are so useful

I was forced to learn autocad in highschool for over a month, professors shouldn't teach something just because it's what they learned, the world changes, education in messed up

06 Mar 07:28

softimage is fantastic, but all your skills can be transfer to maya or max
