--@Nick: Has anybody pointed out your name sounds like a wrestling name? Like if I got in a ring with you, you'd probably give me an intentional low blow to the nuts! DQ Nick!

--There is stuff in my folio that is old as heck and should probably be tossed, but I'll wait till I get a new site built before that I guess. They don't seem to be hindering me getting gigs. Well as far as I know haha

--I mean if you can nail it, by showing variety and quality go for it. But just be mindful to be pretty brutal with what makes it into your folio. Most of the folio crits I do, I always look for the weakest links first, because those are the ones I tell people to bring up to scratch or remove entirely

--That's why EVERY piece should be the best you can do. If half of it is shit, and the other half is good, don't include the shit. But newbies will make this mistake A LOT because they imagine they are restricting themselves from getting more clients by not showing range regardless of quality. haha it's the opposite. Quality is everything

--Hmm... true. But sometimes it's hard to tell if you're branching out or becoming out of focus when it comes to portfolio building..

--Well I would say it's fine to have examples of everything you like doing and can do. But there has to be a sense of integration to the work. I wouldn't put graphic design into an illustration/design folio

--Here's another question. Is it smart to throw in a lot in a portfolio? Environment, characters, graphic design? As opposed to being mainly focused on one thing?

--I'm really enjoying it actually...of course I'm taking longer than I should on the basic silhouettes etc, but I want to get it as you said, to the best of my capability at this time
