Gliger

If you can get crits from scott robertson, feng zhu etc. on a daily bases, that will make you improve super fast

Gliger

Ha, kemp rilliard, Jan Urschel, and Eduardo Pena, say that their graphic design education was indispensible.

25 Feb 00:21

Nous

Because pros learn stuff by themselves, they develop their own techniques, and go deeper into some fundamentals than others, they have a lot of stuff to teach

I'll give it to Negra who is simply a savant. Jones at least lived in California.

25 Feb 00:18

Nous

--

Like why are pros taking courses online or going to ateliers?

25 Feb 00:18

Gliger

--

Anthony Jones and Alex Negrea are better than 99% of other people who have been painting for the same time while going to artschool

25 Feb 00:17

Nous

--

Even faster the trends are in concept art.

25 Feb 00:17

constructicon

--

25 Feb 00:17

Nous

--

I'll say that things are now faster to learn, and trends come quicker in the illustrative/art field.

25 Feb 00:16

Nous

Yeah but think how better these guys could have been - like rigney for instance had to learn all the pitfalls himself, yet with proper crit he may have avoided half the mistakes.

25 Feb 00:15

Gliger

James gurney is from like, 1956 or something, the internet didn't exist back then, not going to artschool wasn't really an option

25 Feb 00:13

Gliger

--

brad rigney didn't go either

25 Feb 00:12

Gliger

--

like dan luvisi, alvin lee, they didn't go to artschool

25 Feb 00:12

Nous

--

Both

25 Feb 00:11

Gliger

--

Total badass masters? or just high level pros

25 Feb 00:11

Gliger

--

What do you mean big names?

25 Feb 00:11

Nous

--

The biggest names in the industry have all had some formal education. Sure we all want to create our own worlds and best of luck to anyone who can achieve that. It takes time.

I never even knew Gurney went to Art Center, but that makes it even worse! It all makes sense now.
