Now I may have to start using UDK for environment concept art, as I've noticed more than a few doing this - and not just as paint overs.

Whatever your specific creative discipline(illustrator etc) keep at it like a man possesed, as many just appear to settle at the way side.

I agree, there should undoubtedly be higher rates for the skillsets out there.

13 Feb 02:30

Gliger

Of course, but, I'm still going to get the rates higher, even if just a bit

My point is when you get to the high end stuff , it whittles down.

Sure there's many but what specific industries? I mean in the movie one alone there are perhaps a 1000 creatives, from what I've heard. Many won't hit the games industry and vice versa, not to say that there isn't cross overs.

And trust me, I left many

13 Feb 02:27

Gliger

maybe not specific concept artists, but alive illustrators, designers etc. yep, I made a list of some of them a while ago and I think I hit at least 200

13 Feb 02:26

Gliger

I could mention more than a hundred

13 Feb 02:24

The of course there is the lowly production concept artist in a factory line who often gets shafted. Think big. Also I've noticed that there might only be a hundred or less badass ones out there, but it seems like a lot more because of the coverage..

They usually set the wnite visual standard for a game or movie. Then you have illustrators who do covers, posters, inlays, prints, etc.

I know but when I think about the best out there are high end visual pitchers, like Paul(Pao in cghub) for instance

13 Feb 02:18

Our generation needs to start charging way higher than the last one, because I have a feeling we are many, like... too many

13 Feb 02:17

Gliger

I only play games that look really really good, or that will improve my visual library a lot, I've seen a couple of full walkthroughs since I started drawing

13 Feb 02:08

Gliger

yeah, usually even after 3 or 4 weeks I just start the game with the intention of playing for a couple hours, but then I see an environment or character I like and pick up my sketchbook and... well you know the deal haha

You'll spend more on in app purchases. Do what Feng suggested - look at youtube vids and get the feel for the game or play it for ihr a week. I mean you'd watch a dvd series or a a few movies in the same time.

haha those marathons are the only way when you rarely have time to play
