--And draw shit for fun.
03 Jul 17:52
--The biggest insight I've had so far is that I need to DO THE HOMEWORK when it comes to learning my fundamentals... duh.
03 Jul 17:52
--TBH, I find most of my insights come from drawing and messing up and realizing what isn't working.
03 Jul 17:51
--Not because I've mastered anything, I know there's a lot to improve on. But yeah haven't got something that made me think, oh wow that really showed me something new about my stuff I need to work on for quite some time. Still holding out hope that I will keep getting them
03 Jul 17:48
--I ALWAYS listen and accept every crit/opinion I get with equal weight, most of the time it's nothing new or groundbreaking, so I just discount it. But when I get a true gem of a crit or opinion, man I apply that shit immediately!
03 Jul 17:46
--wrote it wrong haha. be willing to listen, no obligation to hear and enact what they say
03 Jul 17:46
--Be open to those who would like to help you, but don't hang on to anything that isn't helpful.
03 Jul 17:44
--Yeah, I don't give a shit about these definitions either. I was a bit sensitized after being told repeatedly that what I want to do is "not REAL art" though. LOL
03 Jul 17:42
--I literally don't give a shit personally what art is defined as. I leave the definitions up to people who like to make definitions. I am interested in certain aspects of when art becomes art in a specific context, but I don't want to talk about that in here since I'm writing a story based on it :).
03 Jul 17:41
--Not accusing of "this guy belongs, this guy doesn't" thinking, of course, it's just that these kinds of definitions start leading us in that direction. I got enough of this shit from my "fine artist" relations TBH.
03 Jul 17:40
--Also, concept artists are doing the same kind of stuff (drawing and painting), it's just not for a finished product. Honestly, the whole thing smacks of "this guy belongs, this guy doesn't" thinking. We are all artists if we are creating. :-)
03 Jul 17:37
--Also, it starts to get into arguments over exclusivity and belonging. Who counts as an "artist"?
03 Jul 17:37
--@Amit But what is art anyway? When we start down that path it doesn't get us anywhere.
03 Jul 17:35
--no, I mean over the years I've seen the idea mostly only used to talk about writing and authors. it's very relevant to anybody trying to sell their own creative works to people.
03 Jul 17:11
--Because the article itself is not directed for authors/writers only, rather, I can see it been applied in many other fields. Especially with the possibilities we have nowadays over the internet.
03 Jul 16:49
--Yeah that long tail stuff, is very relevant, but you'll mostly only see it talked about in the context of authors and writing...
03 Jul 15:19
--And before I jump off, an article that speaks about 1,000 True fans, http://kk.org/thetechnium/1000-true-fans/
03 Jul 14:47
--hmmm kinda. but that's too restrictive. Also a fashion designer, genetic designer, world designer, cultural designer. Lots of stuff goes way past just industrial design
