What does it matter, though? If I'm getting the work done I'm getting the work done.

Uuuuuuhhh, I'm so perverse, I say I'm gonna get up early so I can draw, but instead I stay up late drawing 'cause no one bothers me than either.

About having strong convictions. There is nothing wrong with having them. As long as you remember that it's you who have them and those strong convictions don't have you. That's why even though I don't agree with Muzz with a lot of things, I admire him. He puts his opinions about anything out for debate.

@Hermi: What is 'art' really? What are the criteria that makes art 'art'? How much of it is subjective, and how much of it is absolute?

I would also say that there are many things people do that people manage to improve in spite of, and not because of.

When I say that gesture is a terrible starting point, it's because the evidence bears out that people doing that spin their wheels.

Hermi when I write about art theory, i write from an idealised optimised viewpoint. I at all points will acknowledge that you can choose journeys that will get you there in the end, but if you tackle it from a "every way is fine" viewpoint, you have no way to compare the effectiveness of learning methods.

Adam 2016:..But it's probably more fun to make a scene.

If you see what art was during the stone age time, it was used to tell a story, by using mainly shapes etc. Eventually it became everything must have accurate realistic anatomy/perspective or it's not called art. But! Isn't art a medium for ones to express them self, unless of course realism is what they're aiming for? Isn't art used to tell a story? Even the most simplest form of art can make an impact on peoples.

Which also brings in the video I shared earlier, everything is a remix.

Brian Hermelijn

Which is why I mentioned about the "Art Spirit citation", because I think when we continue to put more time into any craft, we develop strong convictions, to the point where we may lose sight of some things maybe? Just sharing my thought. After all, this is how we learn new ideas instead of not sharing our own views.

And some of those that comes to mind are Steve Huston, Karl Gnass, Proko, Kevin Chen, Will Weston etc.

do start with the gesture, but doesn't get stuck there only. And I think that's what Muzz is trying to convey maybe? To move pass gesture and apply the other layers on-top of the gesture. (Correction, construction, anatomy) etc.

02 Jul 11:45

Brian Hermelijn

But! The realization I am coming to is, art is a diverse language in itself. There will be each learning methods that appeals to a student (we are all a student in life) more than the other. And! Each method gives a different result than the other. At the same time, peoples who teaches figure drawing,

@John By the way what I meant earlier (is the on going topic as always) where Muzz have a strong opinion on not starting with the gesture first, because he mentions that the masters didn't start with gestures. At the same time also states that rhythm is developed after you start learning more about the figure more in-depth.
