--dave works for applibot, but dave still looks like dave thats all im getting at

--I mean, you wouldn't be able to do, for example, creature concept art or character design per se...
28 Jan 11:29
--Toodles, yes, but Applibot has specific products and they are looking for specific things. You would be illustrating a card, which consists of this and that... So basically, you would need a portfolio that resembles what they produce. So, you would send them some relatively simple compositions with some guys or girls being korean-ly rendered and stuff like that:)
28 Jan 11:28
--Well, I'm hardly the authority on the matter, but that's my 2c:) Maybe you should try at cghub or really sent them the portfolio. I mean, if I thought I was good enough, I would send them the folio. Even if I thought I was "almost there but not quite", I would still send it to them, as they might give me feedback, which would tell me exactly what I need to know.

--art directors need artists that do specific things, so if you do one thing the best youll get a job, like if you focus really hard on making the best ooy-gooy monsters, then art directors will know that your the guy to go for ooy gooy monsters, these guys hire the best people out their so be the best at what you love :D this advice comes straight from john schindette from his lecture at Illuxcon

--This piece I asked you to review was one of the best I ever did (in matter of render) so in a way I stepped it up a notch already. And that's why @doolio your comment is precisely what I needed to hear. I just need to work harder. As I mentioned earlier - My perception tells me that my work is good enough, but I needed a fresh and honest opinion. Thank you for that.

--Honestly, I do think you need to practice more before going for Applibot, their rendering is ridiculous... I mean, your rendering is great, but I think you should step it up a notch. Also, they tend to have zillions of things in the composition and figures are often dynamic. n the other hand, in one of the streams, Dan was talking about Applibot and apparently, he sent them the application and they turned him down at the time, but they also gave him a somewhat thorough feedback. Like, "we like your armor rendering, we like the design, but your rendering of other stuff is still lacking and your figures are static" etc. So basically, he found out where he was and what he should do. Which means you could send them the portfolio and find out for yourself. They might not respond, but that's ok. Just apply again with new and better portfolio. They WILL respond and hire you when they estimate that you're at the level they need. And about who they need, if they have, let's say, 100 artists, if you are better than one of them, I assume you have a significant chance of success:)

--Applibot is THE Goal. Noone said it would be easy, and I am willing to work hard to achieve the goal. what remains is the skill level, which I lack. Yet

--currently, some of the best artists in the work are working for applibot, in terms of quality seems comparable to magic the gathering or DnD

--/pvt 20 Thanks Ursula! Yeah the goal is to produce 5 portfolio pieces in 5 months. so every month I plan to study really hard ot make each new piece better. I know I do lack knowledge in some aspects and I try to study as often as I can. I already do screencaps/movie stills studies. Just need to do more of them. BTW How is quiting your job worked out? I hope you have no problem getting art jobs:)
28 Jan 10:08
--/pvt 1706 You're well on your way! I just wouldn't stop doing studies to favor only portfolio work just yet. Have you tried screencap studies? Just to get a bit more texture in your painting - and I think you would be good to go

--I got a question. I'm aiming to work for Applibot in the near future. My goal is to finish 5 portfolio pieces in 5 months. I don't know if my perception fails me. Here's a link to my latest piece. Please could you honestly tell me If it's enough to go pro? http://tatarskiskandal.deviantart.com/ar...-429803136
