@John By the way what I meant earlier (is the on going topic as always) where Muzz have a strong opinion on not starting with the gesture first, because he mentions that the masters didn't start with gestures. At the same time also states that rhythm is developed after you start learning more about the figure more in-depth.

I think he's quite a rich man.

John

I wonder how much royalties he's been getting. Yummy corporate money!

02 Jul 06:27

John

Ah Alan Moore... the perfect example to go to whenever somebody verbally promises not to screw with you..

02 Jul 06:23

John

--

Exactly like Santa Claus in bizarro world!

Artloader

Heheh I don't know him personally but I think maybe his beard covers his smile?

02 Jul 06:20

John

--

Is he always that grumpy? Have you seen him smile?

02 Jul 06:19

John

--

Oh yeah! That guy lives around your block right?

02 Jul 06:17

Artloader

--

He operates on a higher plane.

02 Jul 06:17

Artloader

--

Alan Moore.

02 Jul 06:17

Artloader

--

Course the story itself was pretty good by itself.

02 Jul 06:15

John

--

Ah totally. The art was masterful that way.

02 Jul 06:14

Artloader

--

Yep - never read a graphic novel like it before - it was like reading a text book - it really pulls you into the story because you don't have to work to navigate the panels.

John

9 panel grid. But he combines panels if he needs a longer beat.

02 Jul 06:13

John

--

Very rigid.

02 Jul 06:13

John

--

Yeah. It's a 9 panel grid system.

02 Jul 06:12

Artloader

--

Next time you see it - check out his panel layout.

02 Jul 06:12

John

--

Love it! But not so much that I can recall the specifics.

02 Jul 06:11

Artloader

--

You read The Watchmen?

02 Jul 06:11

Artloader

--

I think the art and the story was there man - just needed to guide the reader somehow.

02 Jul 06:11

John

The first layouts were a thousand times more horrible. It got better when folks pointed out how ridiculous the layout was haha!

02 Jul 06:09

John

--

Yeah. Like a snake... I was being too clever... The whole thing just blew up in my face haha!

02 Jul 06:09

Artloader

--

Heheh - two forms of entertainment in one!

02 Jul 06:09

John

--

After you're done reading, you've pressed the Konami code in your head giving you 30 lives.

02 Jul 06:08

Artloader

--

Ah - like a snake?

02 Jul 06:08

John

--

Start from the drinking lady. going right, then down then left then down then right then left.

02 Jul 06:07

Artloader

--

So what order were we supposed to read yours in then?

02 Jul 06:07

Artloader

--

Eh? Er thanks for the offer but ...

02 Jul 06:07

John

--

Haha! That seems too blatant. But damn effective!

02 Jul 06:06

Artloader

--

I've seen comics where the artist adds in some arrows to help guide the reader from one panel to the next if they have a complicated panel layout.

02 Jul 06:06

John

--

Bah. Eff me in the 'a'.

02 Jul 06:05

Artloader

Yeah I guess your panel layout was a bit too ambitious - I wasn't sure which order to read the panels in?
