--so really though, just make your color the proper value before you paint and avoid the whole mess: alla prima

--multi is the closest thing to real internal refractions. thats what Matt Dixon and Kohr do...
08 Jan 12:48
--Line drawings are also hard haha.. here is the trick: painting (color and value) and drawing (lines) are two different skill sets. You do have to practice both. :) So hang in there, you will get a gist of it soon enough
08 Jan 12:45
--values and color are hard, why did I spend so many years only doing line drawings? WHYYYYYYY?
08 Jan 12:39
--Personally I like using color balance to do the first coloring pass, than overlay/soft and hard light layers to adjust over it. Color balance adjustment layers have this "preserve luminosity" option that will keep your values intact. The layers over them WILL mess your values though, so beware.

--Check Henning's tutorials: http://www.henningludvigsen.com/tutorials/ He has a very solid way to working from grayscale to color
08 Jan 12:15
--To use blending modes your values have to be very close to the peak value of the color.
08 Jan 12:09
--Yeah values will effect the colors quite a bit. Learning the different layer modes for adding color is a little rough at first, still haven't figured it out completely.
