Whoa, that's a cool approach, Heliux. I've tried something similar while at life-drawing.

Start with something like a simple statue, or a desk lamp, don't go as complex as an engine, or as simple as an apple, well, technically the apple is the most complex but you know what I mean

i think that drawing in 3d/drawthrough is the fun part - but I always struggle with painting/rendering

Gliger

Like, breaking it down into simple forms on paper, then turning it

07 Jan 07:54

Gliger

I do it but drawing through

I still need do that study where you look at something, then turn it in your mind and draw it from a different angle

07 Jan 07:53

Gliger

I think more in 3D when I draw than when I sculpt

07 Jan 07:52

smrr

True that - though, we can force ourselves to think like they do ;)

I have this theory that because animators and sculptors learn to think in 3d they always end up learning faster traditional stuff than people that approach 2d

fightpunch has some good linework in his sketches, Simone Joslyn Kesterton, Glenn Keane, most animators do character design, and almost by default they have good line
