The closest thing is a free electron laser.

OtherMuzz

yeah i know mech, just talking about if you managed to make one that could change wavelength variably

Mechanizoid

Most military lasers are invisible infrared, so in future laser wars you might never see the beam that fries you. XD

28 Jun 18:47

OtherMuzz

Haha john that's a meaningless question actually

28 Jun 18:47

Mechanizoid

Usually lasers are a fixed wavelength. Some are tunable but they generally do limited spectrums.

28 Jun 18:47

John

--

Not only can you produce a nice painting. It heats food too!

28 Jun 18:47

OtherMuzz

--

It would modulate the wavelength, and be able to produce the full gamut of human vision.

28 Jun 18:47

John

--

Ahh full spectrum... Wonder what the color of microwave looks like...

28 Jun 18:46

Mechanizoid

--

Hey, future technology!

28 Jun 18:46

OtherMuzz

--

well actually it wouldn't be rgb at all!

28 Jun 18:46

Mechanizoid

--

pew pew pew

28 Jun 18:46

OtherMuzz

--

If you could make a full spectrum monitor!

28 Jun 18:46

OtherMuzz

--

well actually a laser computer monitor would be mighty indeed

28 Jun 18:45

OtherMuzz

--

Am i making some sort of sense? If you are writing training material you have a duty of care to be accurate and correct

28 Jun 18:45

Mechanizoid

--

Only painting with lasers would be more awesome of course

28 Jun 18:45

Mechanizoid

--

Yeah

28 Jun 18:45

OtherMuzz

--

what like a computer?

28 Jun 18:44

Mechanizoid

--

LOL

28 Jun 18:44

OtherMuzz

--

Computers blend with additive, so it's confusing.

28 Jun 18:44

Mechanizoid

--

Also your painting would disappear when the power went out

28 Jun 18:44

OtherMuzz

--

yep

28 Jun 18:44

Mechanizoid

--

If you painted with laser beams you would use RGB

28 Jun 18:44

Mechanizoid

--

That is because paint makes colors by subtraction, not addition

28 Jun 18:44

John

--

Because if you mix G with B, you end up with mud

28 Jun 18:44

OtherMuzz

--

well actually in paint your primary colours are cym

28 Jun 18:43

Mechanizoid

--

Sorry

28 Jun 18:43

Mechanizoid

--

Oh wait I thought you said red green blue

28 Jun 18:43

John

--

That is true when you're thinking about paint.

28 Jun 18:43

Mechanizoid

--

I haven't reached color yet

28 Jun 18:43

OtherMuzz

--

RGB dude.

28 Jun 18:43

Mechanizoid

--

Wait, they aren't?

28 Jun 18:43

OtherMuzz

--

There are still modern art books in print today that state that the primary colours are red yellow blue
