--Oh also I think the Nikopol trilogy, a comic series by Enki Bilal a French dude is worth a read. It's not crazy wacky, but it's got that French wackiness with a bit of politics in it to make it fun.

--I think Dune nailed the appropriation of human culture, but made it something very different....bloody brilliant. I'd love to see more people who don't usually do sci fi do sci fi. I really wish Jodorofsky got funding for his Dune movie
